Hi I'm Darla

I live in Pa. I work in home health and go to school full time. I am a Mormon

About Me

I am 41 years old and have just married my best friend, whom I've known for about 16 years. The Lord brought us together after several years of going different ways, and we couldn't be happier. The Lord's hand was definitely in our meeting...and we have both been richly blessed by our union. I work FT as a home health aide, and am going to an online college FT to obtain my BA in Psychology. I love photography and will take day trips just to take pictures of anything that strikes my fancy. I enjoy spending time in the summer camping and going on hikes. I am very interested in helping and being a voice for those who can't or are unable to do so themselves. I come from an abusive family and had 2 abusive marriages but have overcome much of what has happened and am now able to give back by helping others in the same situation.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to bars with my father so I wasn't very familiar with church. I knew there was a God, and I knew there was someone named Jesus Christ, but I didn't know who they were. I privately desired to know, and as my children got older ( though still young at the time) the desire to find the center that others had seemed to grow. The missionaries came to my door one day and told me about Joseph Smith. I felt a stirring within me, a warmth and an assurance that what I was hearing was true. I was baptized on June 23, 1999. I have since learned that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are 2 individual beings, and have come to a better understanding of the Atonement and what it means for me. I feel of Heavenly Father's love for me each and every day as I strive to live the commandments that have been placed before me. I have high standards that have helped me rise above the things of the world and have assisted me in raising my boys alone. There are many trials and challenges that have come my way, but I am never alone. Heavenly Father is always there for me. Jesus Christ suffered all things, so he knows how to help me. I have been given a wonderful blessing of being surrounded by the support of great family and friends. Reading the Book of Mormon has brought me closer to God and has helped me to understand better what is written in the Holy Bible. I know that by living by its precepts I will come closer to God and have a better understanding of why I am here, what is happening in my life, and where I am to direct my life. The Lord has been merciful to me, a sinner, and has shown forth his divine love for me, even when I fall. My Savior stands beside me every day and I know that I can face any of life's challenges because of that knowledge.

How I live my faith

I currently am a visiting teacher in church, a calling I love to have. Visiting the women every month and getting to know them and their families is truly a treasure to me. I am also a den leader for the Webelos in Cub Scouts at church, and I participate in service projects with Mormon Helping Hands. I am cheerful almost every day and seek people out who could use a smile and a little bit of love. I love to serve others and will do everything in my power to uplift and cheer any who come across my way. The Savior loves me and has given me the opportunity to share that love with others. I do this through service.
