Hi I'm Madeleine

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently finishing up my degree in Elementary Education. It was here at college that I met my husband. When school isn't consuming a large part of my time, I like to get outside and go on a walk, run, or bike ride. If the weather confines me to my apartment, I like to read, sew, and sing and dance while I cook.

Why I am a Mormon

Through a trial-and-error process, I have learned what makes me happiest in life. I am happiest when I am trying to live the teachings of my Savior. When I have lived the Gospel of Jesus Christ most fully, I have felt God to be the closest and have felt the most peace. In contrast, I have been the most miserable when I am focused on myself. When I am serving others and getting outside of myself and my problems, I am happier. My church provides me with a lot of opportunities to serve others, which has added meaning to my life. My religion provides guidelines for me to live. Through the choices I have made that are in accordance to those guidelines, I have accumulated life's greatest joys. I am happy I got baptized and made commitments early on to be more like Jesus Christ. I have a happy, healthy body that is free from addictions. I have eagerly pursed an education and love to learn. My husband and I were married in the temple for eternity. All of these things and much more are strongly encouraged within my religion and I am so happy they are. However, I have not followed the guidelines of my church blindly. There are lots of things that I don't know or don't fully understand and I am not ashamed of that. My church is not for people with perfect knowledge. "Faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true" (Alma 32:21). With that being said, I do know that God is real. Jesus Christ atoned for me. They both love me and know me personally. I am here on Earth to become the best I can be. Those are the things that are at the foundation of my faith. They are the things that keep me anchored. It is from there that I believe in modern-day revelation through prophets, temple work, and many other things that I know to be true.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ has changed the way I live my life. He has changed the way I think about myself and others. Every day I try to think and act as the Savior would. This has helped me to see other people's potential. Human beings are flawed in nature; to focus on my own or other people's flaws is unhealthy and certainly doesn't please my Maker. So my Savior has helped me to forgive myself and others. This intern has helped me to render better service within my community and within my church. That is how I "live my faith". I pray every day that I can be a light in the world. That I can help those who need it. I pray that God will forgive me for my shortcomings and because of my Savior I have hope in my future and the person I can become.
