Hi I'm David A. Sheffer

I was born and raised in The Church. I have a wonderful wife, four married sons, a daughter, and ten grandchildren.

About Me

I am a father of five children. I taught school for over 30 years, mostly fourth grade. I served two missions to California. I was a basketball, and volley ball referee for 17 years. I have worked with scouting most of my adult life. I was a certified Red Cross Canoeing instructor for many years and had four of my own canoes. I love spending time in the mountains and on the water. I love the out of doors. My first memory of feeling God's love for me was as a young boy I heard a primary choir sing "I Know That My Redeemer Lives". Since that time I have sensed he lives, loves, and watches over me and my family. I love to see places and learn of other cultures. We will be going to Indiana to serve another mission for our church.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young the church brought me order and clarity. Then as I was listening to a song about the Savior, I felt His love for me. When I would follow the guidance of the scriptures or the living Prophet, I would find joy and peace. I look at the world and the paths that are available. Those that follow and serve the Savior and their fellowmen are uplifted, guided and protected by their Savior. There are still hardships and trials, but the Savior holds you in his embrace as you go through them. I have felt his guidance and direction as I go through this life. I know I am never alone. He loves me. He loves you. He is our brother. We have a Father in Heaven. There is something of divinity in each of us. We are not here to fail.

How I live my faith

I have learned so much and have been blessed by the Lord in so many ways.. I have taught Sunday School to the youth, worked in the nursery with my wife. I have been on activity committees that planned activities for two or three hundred people. I have been a scout master and assistant scout master. This has taken me to Havasupai, slot canyons in Southern Utah, deserts, and to many mountains. I have been snowshoeing in sub-zero temperatures late at night with the sky full of stars. I have white water rafted and canoed the Green and Colorado Rivers. I loved water skiing as a youth. I have tradition of spending a couple of weekends in the fall in the mountains. I enjoy traveling and have been to Mexico, Canada, El Salvador, Guatemala, Russia, and Kazakhstan. I have also been through many of the states.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

David A. Sheffer
As we learn of Christ, our love for Him grows. As we follow him, we feel his love more strongly. We learn of him in the Bible, Book of Mormon (Another Testament of Jesus Christ), and words written and spoken by modern prophets. Show more Show less
