Hi I'm DeeAnn

I'm a mother of six, and grandmother to nineteen. I grew up in Ogden, Utah. Life is good and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Mormon church and have grown to love everything I know about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was blessed to be able to sing in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for eighteen awesome years. My experiences there increased my love for Jesus Christ and all men and women everywhere. The experience that impacted my life greatly was the death of my son. He died just before his fifth birthday after almost a year battling cancer. He was such a special, sweet child. Though there was pain and sorrow in losing him, I learned that I truly trust my Heavenly Father. The comfort I received was unbelievable. This experience caused me to read and study more deeply about the plan of happiness God has for us. The doctrine that children are innocent and are saved in God's kingdom is so comforting to me. If you have lost a child, I would be happy to share what I learned. I love my garden. My husband and I raise vegetables and have some fruit trees. We enjoy trying new methods for growing things and share this love together. We ride bikes together and walk together for exercise and companionship. I also love to paint pictures. I paint with oils on canvas and with watercolors. My family, children and grandchildren, share a large portion of my time. They are everything to me. I have five married children and nineteen grandchildren. The knowledge that we can be a family eternally is a blessing. In these troubled times, to have a solid foundation in the gospel is so valuable to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is the best plan for happiness in this life and the life to come. The answers to all things are in the beautiful words of the Lord in the scriptures. I love the high standards we are asked to live. We avoid so many of life's pitfalls by staying with these standards. The love and unity of our congregation brings joy and help when we need it in our lives. I have a spiritual conviction of the truthfulness of the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know God the Father and His son Jesus Christ live. I know they know us individually. They are always listening when we pray. I have had answers to my prayers. I have received direction, enlightenment, and comfort from praying. I know Jesus Christ stands at the head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. (The Mormons) I know Jesus Christ will return to reign on earth. There is a glorious future awaiting all of us, if we stay true to His teachings. I know the power to act for Jesus Christ resides in His church. God has not left us to struggle on our own. He is there to help us and direct our lives and guides the church through His living prophet today.

How I live my faith

My service in the Tabernacle Choir was sweet and filled my life along with raising my family. Now I teach the fifteen and sixteen year old youth in Sunday School. We are studying about the Atonement of Jesus Christ this month. I love the time I spend with these young people. I hope to help them to think seriously about the purpose of life and help them find out for themselves that God knows and loves them each as individuals. Their answers and comments during our discussions are great. They are a bright bunch of clean young people. I also visit with my partner two of the women in our ward each month. We discuss gospel topics and enjoy visiting. We are a strength to each other.

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is the women's organization whose purpose is to provide compassionate service and caring for those in need of help. They also meet weekly to study the principles of the Gospel. They have the opportunity there to share knowledge and personal experiences pertaining to living a good life. We believe knowledge is important and an important quest during this earth life. We seek to understand and learn all we can. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He was key in restoring the fullness of the Gospel to the earth in his day. We study his example and life and believe he was a very good man who obeyed God. We do not worship him nor any other prophet or leader. We worship God the Father. Jesus Christ is our Savior. The Holy Ghost can be our constant companion if we live worthy and ask for his influence in our lives. Through the Holy Ghost we can know the truth. Show more Show less
