Hi I'm Michelle

I grew up in Singapore, attend BYU-Provo and served a full time mission in the Taiwan Taipei mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my mission in the Taiwan Taipei mission. I loved being in Taiwan so much, I loved the food, and especially loved the people there. I am so excited to continue to serve God while attending college. Going on a mission was the best decision I have ever made. There is nothing better than serving the Lord, no matter what we are doing in our lives. When we know that what we are doing is what Heavenly Father wants us to do, we find so much joy and peace. I have been blessed to have 4 older brothers and an older sister, each of them has been a great example to me and have helped me become a better person. I love playing basketball and Frisbee, and have recently started playing racquetball.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that God loves me. I know that Jesus Christ died for me. I know that the atonement provides a way so that I can return to live with God someday. Sometimes being a member of this church can appear difficult. Trials come. But I know that if we trust God, our trials can become easy. I have read the Book of Mormon, and I have felt the Spirit of God confirm to me that it is true. I have read and prayed about Joseph Smith, and his story. It is crazy to me that a 14 year old boy saw God and Christ. But I know he did. I have no doubt. The Holy Ghost has confirmed the truth of it to me too many times to count. There are so many things I don't understand. So many things I have questions about. But I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the church that has the full truth of Christ's gospel. I know that God loves me. I know that when I pray to Him, He will answer, He will help, and He will give me His peace so that I can be happy. Without this gospel, I would not be near as good a person as I am now. I'm not perfect, not even close. I make mistakes, I sin, but I know that through this gospel, I can repent, and feel clean, feel peace, and be without guilt. I love the gospel. I love my church. I love that I have the opportunity to share the peace and happiness gained through keeping God's commandments with other people.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a fulltime missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This entails 18 months of sharing Christ's gospel with others. Each day I spend all my time either preparing to share this message, or sharing this message. Once a week I get to email my family and write my friends. I love the opportunity I have to learn Mandarin Chinese, and serve others with all my time. I love living the gospel, and I love the peace that it brings to my life. Everyday I read the Book of Mormon and Bible, each day I learn from others examples, and through the Atonement of Christ, each day I have the ability to change and improve, and provide others with the opportunity to do the same in order to be happier.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

We believe that when we serve others, we are serving God. When we truly love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, we willingly give of our time, and willingly serve in church callings. It is a way for us to show our love for God and for others. When we are called to a position within the church, it is a call from God. We know that when we serve others, and do as God asks us, we receive so many more blessings and so much more happiness. When we serve without receiving pay we grow so much closer to God, and learn so much more. By giving selfless service and gaining no payment in return, we learn to see the other blessings that we receive as we serve. Show more Show less
