Hi I'm Anike

I am an Army Brat. I have a bachelors in Public Relations. I love ice cream and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I love to sing and play the guitar and ukulele. One day I would also like to learn the harmonica. Music is one of my biggest passions and one day I would like to help local artists record, perform and develop as artists. I also love to play sports particularly lacrosse, volleyball, badminton, ultimate frisbee and ping pong. I graduated college with a bachelors but I am thinking I love school too much to stop now. I may have to continue one day. My family has a very traditional German and Dutch background. We celebrate German holidays and traditions. I used to live in Germany and will one day go back. In fact, I would one day like to travel all of the place. My top to-go-see destinations are Ireland, Scotland, England, Greece, Africa... everywhere! My favorite flavor of ice cream are the ones that only come out once a year i.e. pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate chip peppermint. I am a huge family person. Family is very important to me. During the holidays, I don't need fancy food or presents. I just need time spent with my family. We love playing monopoly for hours! One of the coolest accomplishments I have is riding the Vomit Comet at NASA in Houston, Texas. I got to experience weightlessness like astronauts do in space. This was an opportunity for me to be published by a real town newspaper/magazine. Those free fall towers at amusement parks got nothing on the vomit comet!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. It keeps me good. Every time I go to church I feel like I can think clearly. I am at peace. It feels right because it is right. I am a Mormon because when I feel ugly or put down, I have been taught that I can turn to God for anything. That through Christ, I will be strengthened. (Phil. 4:13) During a low and ugly moment, I stood pleading to my Father in Heaven asking why I felt this way, why I felt ugly and unwanted. A thought and a spiritual confirmation and overwhelming feeling of joy came over me. "You are beautiful to Him. That is all that matters." I have felt the holy spirit in many other churches. I love going to other churches and seeing the light and love christian's have for humanity. I am a Mormon because the light, clarity and feeling of peace and love I receive is more complete than anywhere else I have felt. I am a Mormon because I want to be spiritually fed indefinitely. I know that the gospel taught at/through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints, is a restored gospel that is correct and true because it makes more sense than anything else. It clears up questions that so many people have regarding what comes after this life. I know that I will be with my family for eternity. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

First and foremost, I try to live like Christ. I try to serve others as I think he would serve. In church I help with activities. I love to plan fun things that bring people together. I also have learned that one of the ways of bringing people together is through food. So, I help put together a mingling of sorts with all kinds of food to try each week.
