Hi I'm Kristy

I am a teacher, I love to travel and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I graduated BYU in Elementary Education and currently teach 2nd grade! I am passionate about teaching and I am excited to be able to make an impact on children's lives. I am the third of four children and my family LOVES dogs. In 2013-2014 I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nashville Tennessee (hence part of the reason why I like Country music). While there, I learned Spanish. I enjoyed getting to meet so many different people in Tennessee and sharing with them a message about the restored gospel that was so tender to me. It was an incredible experience to dedicate my life to sharing my beliefs with others. Looking back, I realize what a leap of faith it was to leave my family for 18 months at 19 years old. However, I did it because I wanted others to know and feel the same joy that I receive from this gospel. I also love to travel and experience new things. I have had several opportunities to visit and live in Central America. Those have been one of the most memorable, valuable experiences I have ever been able to have.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I know that there is nothing else in this world that gives me greater joy. While there are many things that I find happiness in (my education, teaching, being outdoors), none of it compares to the understanding that I gain through my testimony. There is an immense joy that I feel and know to be true in my heart, that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father, who loves me and wants the best for me. One of the principles of the gospel that is so tender to me is the Plan of Salvation, also called the Plan of Happiness. The plan teaches us about who we are (children of a Heavenly Father), where we came from (a pre-mortal existence with Heavenly Father), why we are here (to return to live with him), and how we can find our way back to Heaven joyfully in this lifetime (by following Jesus Christ and His teachings). I also love that the message of the restored gospel allows families to live forever together. I love my family so much and I want to live forever with them and I know that this gospel makes that possible. The reason I know all of this to be true is because I have diligently studied, pondered and prayed about it. My testimony has not come all at once, but through a humble persistence I was able to gain peace that this message is good and that it is true. I am a Mormon because I have prayed about it and I have come to know for myself that it is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by maintaining standards. I try to live a virtuous life in my thoughts, words, and deeds. Through my example I want to do all that I can to reflect the life of a disciple of Jesus Christ. I also live my faith my trying my best to love and serve those around me. I know that there is a power in love and that it is powerful enough to soften any heart and to lift up not only individuals around us, but also ourselves.
