Hi I'm Cameron

I am from the dusty desert South, I love sports, sunsets, and thunderstorms. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing sports, anything from football and basketball to ultimate frisbee and recquetball. I also love playing the piano. I was taking basic core classes at a local community college, But now I am serving a Mission for the Church. In the future, I want to study meteorology. I love the weather; there is so much power that the earth has.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up this true church. But the reason why I continue to be a part of it, is the happiness it brings in my life. There is just such amazing truth to this gospel. It provides so many answers and principles that just don't exist elsewhere.

How I live my faith

I am currently living my faith by serving a mission. I have enjoyed the blessings that Christ has brought into my life and want to help others receive them as well. I strive to live in a way that reflects my gratefulness to our Savior, and be a witness of Him.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Cameron
Joseph Smith, the prophet who restored this true gospel, was told by Jesus that the church should be named after Him, after all it is His, Jesus Christ's, church. It was revealed that it should be called "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". The term Mormon was a derogative name that followers of the church were called in the early history of the church, it was used because we believe in the Book of Mormon, but we also beleive in the Bible as well. it is important to realize that it refers to the Book and not that we worship the man Mormon. we worship Jesus Christ. We still use it now because it is easily recognised by others outside our religion and it is easier to say. If someone asks what religion you are, it is easier to say I am a Mormon than saying I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even then with the full title it can seem confusing and overwhelming. All in all, someone is a Mormon if they are from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints." Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Cameron
Jesus Christ is always inviting us throughout the scriptures to be baptized in his name. What better way to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ than by the same priesthood he holds. This priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. It is His power. Anything that concerns Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ should be done in His power and authority. Without the authorization of the Priesthood and that power of God, it won't be valid. God's will and commandments should be done through his Power and authority. Show more Show less

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Cameron
In the early part of our church history, there was a commandment to practice plural marriage. It was not churchwide, some were just asked to. but what people don't get is that it was not for personal desires. Many of the people that were asks to take part in it refused to do it at first, but they prayed about it and accepted. The men did not do it for their personal needs. At first it was to help those woman that needed a supportive provider for their children. Once the government passed a law outruling it, the President of the Church put a stop to the practicing of plural marriage. Show more Show less
