Hi I'm McKay

I grew up in American Fork, Utah. I love to play basketball. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old. I graduated from high school this year, part of the class of 2012. I am leaving on my mission to Chile next week. When I get home, I will go to college. I want to go into biology and be a biology teacher or something. I love to play pretty much every sport. I used to play football, baseball, and soccer. I still play basketball on a regular basis. I live with my mom and my step dad. I have two older brothers and an older sister. I love to learn new things. I enjoy being outdoors. I love to go hiking. I love to go fly fishing on the Provo River. My favorite thing to do is to go mountain biking. I have a lot of friends that share my love for mountain biking. I love to both ski and snowboard. I enjoy doing yard work. I have had several jobs during my high school years. I used to be a janitor. I worked at Cold Stone Creamery, and I worked as an editor.

Why I am a Mormon

I have pretty much always been a member of this church. My mom and dad were members of the church before I was even born. I was baptized when I was eight years old. I have always lived in a place where almost everyone is a Mormon. As I have grown up, I have learned about this church from different teachers and leaders. I have also learned a great deal from the scriptures. I love my scriptures. I have always been excited about having my own set of leather-bound scriptures. I read them because the truly contain God's words. I know that He speaks to me through the scriptures. I find answers to my prayers as I search the scriptures. I know that this is the only true church. It contains the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love being a member of this church. When I live my religion, I feel a great sense of happiness. I feel like I am doing God's will. I love having the companionship of the Holy Spirit. I am guided to make good choices. I love the service that is a big part of my church. Service is an important part of what we do. I love helping those in need. It brings great happiness to do something for someone else. I love the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon has changed my life. I feel a power that flows into my life when I read it. I feel peace, and that is such a rarity in this chaotic world.

How I live my faith

I attend institute classes, where they teach more about the LDS church. I live in a community where many people are members of the same church as me. I help some of the younger boys with their activities in the scouting program. I visit several families in my neighborhood once a month and share a spiritual message with them. I teach the kids, ages 12-13, more about our church in Sunday School. I help plan mutual activities where all of the youth get together to socialize and feel unity.
