Hi I'm Randal Hixson

I grew up in Stockton California. My life is an unfinished book. I'm a survivor of physical and sexual abuse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the church, but never felt like it was true. I grew up in situations that made me question if the church was true. I went through two forms of abuse at an early age and didn't understand why for years, but now I've come to believe that I went through them cause: 1. I could handle it and 2. I would be involved in others not giving up, while they go through the same things. I love helping people in any way that I can whether it just be listening or trying to give advice. I seek inspiration from anything and everything wholesome, for instance I love to read and write and I'm musically inclined to an extent, I play guitar, piano, trumpet, and drums. I love physical activities like Capture the Flag, basketball, football, I've even played rugby a couple of times. I love the outdoors especially in mountainous areas or in highly vegetated areas like forests. I love the peace that comes with being alone and being able to think about things going on in my life at that time. I listen to all kinds of music cause there are so many messages in music that can change the way you think about something or in my case can help me be at peace or in a meditative state of mind.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon cause I know it's true for the Spirit of Truth has confirmed that to me. I know there is nothing happier than living what I believe now cause there was a time when I didn't live what this church teaches and I wasn't happy. I went down paths that no man should tread, but the grace of God is sufficient to save all sinners who repent and come back to Him and that's what I did and He has showed me the better way to live. I will not depart from this path that I am on for I know there is no happier path to be on. I've walked a part of the adversary's path and no matter how much pleasure it brings it will never bring lasting happiness no matter what Satan offers you. I've also had too many witnesses to leave this church again for I know without a doubt that Joseph Smith was called to be a Prophet in these last days, The Book of Mormon is the Word of God needed for these last days to confirm to the world that Jesus is the Christ!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to be worthy of the love that Heavenly Father gives me as His son. I am not perfect, but I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can be perfected as Jesus Christ is perfect and I can be a ressurected being as Jesus Christ has been ressurected, He allows all men to live through him. I strive to be the best example of Jesus Christ that I can be so that way I can find opportunities to serve others and to help them come closer to Jesus Christ. I do my best to be an example to my younger siblings cause I know someday I'ma have to be an example to my children and lead them in righteousness as my father did for me. I read the scriptures daily to continue to learn from the Spirit of God that He has sent to teach all men how to come back to Him. I know that keeping the commandments of God I can be able to return to Him and live with him for eternity.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Randal Hixson
If it was required that would take away our free agency to choose as we wanted which is a God given gift that no man can take away not even God can take it away lest he would cease to be God. We as members of the church are missionaries in the sense that we have an obligation to tell everyone who asks, what we believe and why. The best thing for us to do as youth is serve a mission for our Lord and Savior who has given us everything and asks for very little in return. Those who serve become better people and more devoted to the truth of the gospel and so it's a good thing to serve, but once again not required. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Randal Hixson
No the church does not support political parties. The church respects the leaders of the country, but does not support them and will always defend it's standards and morals no matter the outcome. We serve the Lord not mammon! Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Randal Hixson
The book in which people call the "Mormon Bible" is called the Book of Mormon which we believe to be the word of God and is not the Bible which we also read because they are both the word of God and they teach the same gospel of Jesus Christ and they both testify that Jesus is the Christ and Saviour of the world. Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Randal Hixson
The Book of Mormon was written by many prophets and leaders of the acient Native Americans. It was eventually abridged (summarized) into what it is today by the prophet-historian Mormon hence why it's called The Book of Mormon and it was finished by Mormon's son Moroni. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Randal Hixson
We believe that family is important, otherwise God would not have put us in them. With that importance we believe that God has made it possible for families to be together forever throughout time and all eternity. We believe that a family consists of a husband and wife who love and raise their children in righteousness and do what they can to strengthen each other and stand on equal standing with different roles in the family to lead it together and make decisions together not for one to rule over the other. What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Randal Hixson
I've come to know the Word of Wisdom as a health guide to eat healthy and not partake of anything that is more harmful than good. We refrain from all forms of illegal drugs and drugs that are not prescribed by a doctor and even then some of those we refrain from cause we know we'll be blessed for following the Lord's commandments over the advice of man. What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Randal Hixson
We believe that God is perfect and as man is God once was and as God is man can become. How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Randal Hixson
If we are modest we show God that we care about the bodies he has given us and staying chaste shows that we'll respect our bodies, since they are not ours they are His and He has "rented" them to us so we can learn. He has asked us by commandment that we are to save intimacy for our spouse, husband or wife, respective to the natural use of our body. If we respect our body in language then we are more likely to respect it through chastity and modesty. Parents should explain to their children the importance of protecting the body and keeping it pure. They can talk about God's plan for our bodies and how to respect Him we should respect what He has given us. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Randal Hixson
All Christians are asked to donate 10% and whether they do or not is entirely up to them, but the tithing we pay goes towards helping others as the Lord sees fit seeing as once we pay our tithing it is in the Lord's hands to do with it what He will. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Randal Hixson
We believe that there is a man called of God to teach and preach His word and to give counsel to the world just as prophets in the Bible did. They weren't told something by God and then kept it to themselves, even Jonah eventually learned to do what God commands which in that case was to tell the people what God told him. And I testify to you that we have a living prophet and his name is Thomas S. Monson! Show more Show less

What is faith?

Randal Hixson
Faith is not a perfect knowledge. If it was a perfect knowledge then we'd see miracles every day that would confirm our faith, but as Jesus said to Thomas "ye believe because ye have seen me, blessed are those that believe without seeing." If we want proof for our faith we won't receive it cause it won't change anything about what we believe, it'll only be something of importance, but nothing major. Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

Randal Hixson
The Law of Chastity is the reserving oneself for intimacy until after they are married and only with their spouse. The Law of Chastity prohibits sexual relationships that do not coincide with God's plan for us. God's plan is for us to populate and to do so intimacy must be between a man and a woman lawfully wedded as husband and wife. Keeping the Law of Chastity can protect us from insecurities that come from having sex before or outside of marital bonds. It can also bring us closer to those that we stay loyal too, i.e. keeping the Law of Chstity shows our loyalty to our Heavenly Father by keeping the body He gave us pure and clean and then after we are married it shows our loyalty to our spouse. Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Randal Hixson
There are no restrictions on race or color pertaining to those who can enter the church. Every worthy man is allowed to hold the priesthood and excercise it righteously. It's not man's priesthood to withold nor is it man's church to choose who can come, but it is God's priesthood and His church and He wants everyone to have an equal opportunity where He merits permissable unto the giving of His authority. What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Randal Hixson
We believe the purpose of life is to experience things in a physical sense that we couldn't had we stayed in our spiritual bodies alone. We were to learn for ourselves what it's like to feel pain and pleasure, to know and experience for ourselves the hunger and thirst of a mortal body and to experience hardships and friendships to grow in them and to strengthen ourselves through our trials that we could only have through physical means. To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Randal Hixson
I attribute the growth of the church to those who are honestly seeking the truth. Those that are honestly and earnestly seeking the truth will eventually come to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church with God's authority to act in His name and is the same church that Jesus Christ organized in his day. Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Randal Hixson
Joseph Smith Jr. restored the Church of Jesus Christ and was told by Jesus Christ himself through revelation to call it the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church was founded by Jesus Christ while he was still on the Earth. We are called Mormonism by men who used it as a derogative to put us down, but little did they know that Mormonism would grow to expand to most of the world as it has and to the rest of the world as it will before the second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Randal Hixson
We believe that baptism is done correctly by immersion and we believe that God's Authority is needed for the baptism to be accepted by God and we believe that God's Authority is only found within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We believe that baptism is only needed for those that are capable of committing sin such as those who are accountable and we believe that the age of accountability is 8 years old so little children do not need to be baptized. My personal beliefs about baptism by sprinkling is that only where the water touches is what was sanctified, which to me explains the second reason why baptism should be done by immersion, the first reason is Jesus Christ was baptized by immersion not sprinkling or any other way only by immersion and if we are to follow his example we should also be baptized by immersion. Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Randal Hixson
Why should we get paid for teaching what we got for free. The Words of God and his Prophets are not ours to keep to ourselves, but to spread throughout the world. Jesus Christ wasn't paid for any miracles he performed nor should we be paid for any services we render in His name. Show more Show less
