Hi I'm Mike

I've lived my whole life in Bismarck, ND. I just got my mission call to the Philippines, Cauayan mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a member my whole life. I have four brothers and one sister. I will soon be serving in the Philippines, Cauayan mission. I enjoy playing piano and sports, especially hockey. I am an eagle scout.

Why I am a Mormon

This gospel means everything to me. The things it teaches and the way it encourages me to live have made me a better person. The thing I love most about this gospel is the emphasis it puts on the importance of families. I love my family so much. Through this gospel, I have the ability to live with them after this life. The atonement of Jesus Christ also means a great deal to me. I know that Christ suffered for me because of the love he has for me, a love that I can't even begin to understand. I grew up in the church, and so I have always had the gospel to turn to. Through my teenage years I had a series of trials that have helped me to understand the gospel and to gain my own testimony. Recently, I have come to understand and love the scriptures more than I ever thought I would. There are so many wonderful things to learn and discover in the pages. The most important part of the scriptures, to me, is the testimony of the prophets concerning Jesus Christ and his atonement. Throughout all the scriptures, every prophet testifies of Jesus Christ. This gospel means everything to me, and I am so grateful for it.

How I live my faith

I love to participate in my ward. I've been a home teacher, and helped a lot in the young men's program. I was in boy scouts, and did my eagle scout so that I could give back to the wonderful community in which I grew up. As a youth, I loved going to scout camps and youth conferences to hang out with all the awesome LDS youth my age.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

I grew up in an area where there are very few members of the church. Much of the service I was able to give throughout my life was to peoI e who are baptized members of the LDS church. I cleaned up yards, sandbagged houses, and did lots of other things for many people who knew little about this church. Show more Show less

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

We do so much to help those around us! A few years ago, my hometown of Bismarck and another city called Minot got flooded pretty bad. I did sandbagging for several days in my hometown, and weeks later did cleanup by getting rid of the sandbags after the floodwater went back down. And I was able to serve in Minot. The flood came really quickly there, so there was little prevention. What I did was gut houses-clean them out and do flood clean up. The Helping Hands have helped thousands of people across the world. Show more Show less
