Hi I'm Brett Galbreath

I'm a passionate linguist. I'm a musician. I love to teach and learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The one thing just about everyone knows about me is my passion and love for learning languages. I have studied bits of over ten languages including German (fluent), Russian, Arabic (MSA), Spanish, French, Slovak, Norwegian, Swedish, Swahili, Indonesian, Hindi, Chinese (Mand.), ASL, Armenian (Eastern), and many others. This does not mean I limit my hobbies and spare time to JUST foreign language learning. I also am a bassoonist, trombonist, and baritonist! After my mission, which is coming up in a few months, I will attend either BYU or UGA. I plan on majoring in the German Language and Education (or a combination of the two). I'm considering majoring in International Studies or Business. That's pretty much me!

Why I am a Mormon

To tell the truth, I'm a Mormon because I was born one; however, I'm a faithful Mormon because I have a strong testimony and belief in The Book of Mormon, The Bible, The Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. I know that God and His Son, Jesus Christ, exist. I know that Christ lives and atoned for our sins. I know that we have latter-day prophets called to reveal new revelation to us here on the Earth from God. I know that the Plan of Salvation is real and brings the full truth and understanding to our past, present, and future. I love my family, and I know I'll be with them forever. I know and understand that if I follow the teachings and commandments given by God, repent for my sins and transgressions, strive to be like Christ, endure to the end, and have a strong faith in the Gopsel, Jesus Christ, and God, then I will return to live with Him in Heaven with my family and live in eternal happiness. This is why I am a true, faithful Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm living my faith by preparing to serve a 2-year, full-time mission for the church. I will be serving in the Brazil Joao Pessoa mission in April of 2013! In preparing for this, I am deeply studying the scriptures, mainly The Book of Mormon, praying daily, studying Gospel books, and spending as much time at church and with my family as possible. At church, I do have a calling! I am the Single Adult Representative for my ward. This just simply means that I inform the single adults in my ward about the local single adult activities and encourage them to attend.
