Hi I'm Vicki

I grew up in Hong Kong and graduated from Brigham Young University - Hawaii in 2011. I am grateful for the Gospel in my life!

About Me

I grew up in Hong Kong. I have two younger brothers. My parents got divorced when I was little. I have lived with my dad up until I went to college. I joined the church when I was 16. Before I joined the church, I thought I was going to be a successful businesswoman, it has changed after I became a member of the Church. Now, I am a stay-home mom to take care of first child. We are planning on having around 4-5 kids if Heavenly Father would allow. :P I graduated from college in 2011 in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Originally, I was going to work in some hotels in Hong Kong after I graduated from University. However, I met my husband during my last year of college after my mission. I served a mission in the Canada Vancouver Mission from 2008 to 2010. I got married to a wonderful guy in 2011. I gave birth to our first son, Dallan on 1/14/2013 in Hawaii. Soon after we moved back to Raymond, Alberta where my husband grew up.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I joined the church, I was a agnostic/ Buddhist. One day I was walking down the street in Hong Kong, I said hi to two American ladies. I didn't realized they were missionaries because I didn't see their black name tags. After saying hi to them, they approached me and started talking about Jesus Christ with me. They got my phone number at the end of our conversation. They called me a few days later and wanted to meet with me. I stood them up the first appointment because I slept in. The second time I almost stood them up again because it was pouring that evening. But I felt bad for not showing up for two times. So I left my apartment with the biggest umbrella I could have in the house. They were so happy to see me. We started to talk about Joseph Smith and the Restoration during our first appointment. I felt really good meeting with them because I could feel that they were good people. I was really curious why these two Americans spoke Cantonese so well and tried so hard to learn the language. After two months of meeting with them, I decided to get baptized and joined this big family. Two years later, I went to the college that runs by the church in Hawaii. After two years of school, I decided to go on a mission which means to be what those two American sister missionaries were doing in Hong Kong to share the gospel to others. I was assigned to serve in BC, Canada where I met a lot of people with different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. I love being a missionary. After 18 months of being missionary, I went back home and worked for a while before I went back to Hawaii to finish my bachelor degree. During my last year of school, I met my eternal companion. We were sealed in the Laie Hawaii Temple for time and for eternity. I love the Gospel because it has brought me so much happiness. I know this is the only true Church on the earth because I have prayed about it and received my own answer through the Spirit.

How I live my faith

I was the President of Relief Society, which means a women group for sisters to gather, in my ward. I get to talk in front of a whole group of sisters every Sunday and serve them. I also work with my counselors who plans monthly event for the sisters and organize lessons with the teachers to teach during the 3rd hour of church. After we left our student married ward in Hawaii, we moved back to Raymond like I mentioned earlier. Now I am just a visiting teacher who go around to visit the assigned sister to take care of their needs both temporally and spiritually. Each Sunday, we have our sacrament meeting, Sunday School, and Relief Society/ Priesthood meeting for 3 hours. It sounds long but it is always uplifting after going to church. I love going to church because I get to worship Heavenly Father and feel loved all around me.
