Hi I'm Leeland Conners

I am mechanic, a younger brother, a son, a missionary that served in Liberia. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up in Utah "mormon central" my whole life. I am an avid mechanic; also, I love snowboarding, reading, and listening to Rock music. I am writing a book that I hope to publish. I received an offer from Hill Air Force Base to work as a jet engine mechanic before I came on my mission, fullfilling one of my life's dreams; however, I gave that up to go on my mission to Sierra Leone, Freetown mission in Africa. I served for a period of one year and eight months in Monrovia, Liberia before I was evacuated due to the Ebola outbreak. I have been reassigned to the Knoxville, Tennessee mission. These next few months will be very interesting, I still hope to be able to serve to my fullest extent here in the states as I have previously done overseas. After my mission I hope to join the Air Force as a Jet mechanic and also as a Pilot.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because at one point in my life I was going through a very difficult time. MY parents were going through divorce and I just needed something more in my life. Ever since I remember I have gone to the Mormon church with my family every week. But I had never even believed God early in my life due to some friends that I had made from school that greatly influenced my beliefs. But, when I was 17 I picked up a copy of the Book of Mormon for the first time on my own. I didn't make it far before I read the last two paragraphs of the Introduction. They read. "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. "Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah." After I read this I began reading the book as fast as I could, because when I read this section I felt something in my heart urging me to test the promise in the introduction. If I read, ponder, and ask God, that He would reveal the truth of it to me. Three weeks later I finished the book and I knelt down to ask God if it was really true. As I asked Him I felt the Spirit enter into my heart and confirm the truth of the book to me and I felt the need to share that answer with the whole world. That I had actually received an answer from God, the Book of Mormon is true, and I KNOW that anyone who Reads, Ponders, and Prays, can also gain that same answer. If they ask with a sincere heart and real intent.

How I live my faith

I participate in church by voulinteering at the Bountiful Temple. In the Bountiful Temple there is a cafeteria, and that is where I volunteered before coming out on my mission. It was a fun experience to see all the people coming to the temple with wonderful smiles on their faces after doing so much work for the Lord in the Holy Temple. I am now serving as a full time missionary In Johnson City, Tennessee. I only have 2 months left to serve the Lord out here before I return home to go to school and start a life for myself.

Are Mormons Christians?

Leeland Conners
Absolutely. To know the answer to that question, all you have to do is look at the name of the Church, for we are THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST!!!! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Latter-Day Saints means, The Saints of Jesus Christ in the Last Days before the 2nd coming of Christ. All Joseph Smith was, was a Witness of Jesus Christ. Testifying to the whole world that He is not dead, but that He speaks today to a living prophet, just like he has throughout the whole entire bible to Prophets like Moses, Enoch, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc...... I testify that if you want to hear the Lords voice and direction today, just like in the Bible, you need to listen to His Prophet today. Thomas S. Monson. And if you wish to REALLY know if he is a true prophet and if what anything I we have to say about this is true. Just simply read the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart and real intent, then ponder on the message it contains, then ask GOD, not me, not the missionaries, not your neighbor who is a member of the church, not your pastor or preacher or minister, but ask Him who knows all things, God himself, if the book is true. And just like He promises us in the Bible in James 1:5, Matthew 7:7, and Luke 11:9, and in Moroni 10:3-5. He SHALL and WILL answer you. No matter who you are or what you have done. And he will manifest the truth by the power of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
