Hi I'm Eric

I'm a Texan. I'm a starving college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my free time I like to read a good book, or do something fun with friends. I also enjoy hiking and biking (as soon as I get my bike fixed!) College makes free time kind of hard to come by, so unfortunately I spend most of the time with my face in a textbook or solving hard math and science problems. But that's just how the cookie crumbles if you want a good job. I am studying mechanical engineering with a minor in computer science. Depending on how things go, I may end up in the robotics field. Honestly I don't know what I will do with that yet, we will see. Before I decided on this, I wanted to be a veterinarian. Crazy jump huh? Bikes, of all things, are what sparked my interest in engineering, and how such a simple design can be so useful. There are all kinds of simple designs that make our lives easier, and maybe I can contribute somehow.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a Mormon family. I am grateful that as I grew I was taught in my family and in church the principles that I still live by today. Of course as a child I could not possibly understand completely what it meant to have a testimony that this church is true, or that Christ is my Savior, and He guides His church today through a living prophet. As I matured it became more clear to me how important it was for me to have this testimony and belief, because it would be unintelligent to say the least to follow a church that I did not know for sure was true. It came time for me to dedicate two years of my life to serve The Lord as a missionary to spread His gospel. I was not about to dedicate that much time to a cause that I wasn't completely sure I believed in, so I followed a promise given in the Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:3-5, that if I asked God in faith I can know the truth of all things. I did so, and through the unmistakable feelings of the Holy Ghost I knew that this church is true. And today I do my best to follow what I know to be true.

How I live my faith

Going to church each Sunday puts me on a spring board for a great week. During the week reading the scriptures every day is very difficult with many demands on time but I find that as I do I feel closer to God, and my days turn out so much better. Of course, just reading isn't enough, but I make an effort to live what the scriptures teach me. A responsibility I have in the church is helping people with family history work. You should look up what family history work is in this website because it is really cool.
