Hi I'm Nate

I grew up in the bitter cold of a small town just outside of Fargo, North Dakota. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I will be serving in Recife Brazil for two years. I hope to share with others the Gospel of Jesus Christ that has brought me so much happiness in my life. I have found that as I have given my time to the Lord, I have received blessings that I don't even feel I deserve. I am forever grateful and in debt to my Father in Heaven. I really enjoy playing any sport and exercising. I love the outdoors, whether it is hiking in the mountains, snowboarding, camping, longboarding (a kind of skateboarding), or just being outside. There is a certain peace that I feel when I am able to enjoy nature and God's creations.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of this church, and for a long time I only went to church because that is what my family does on Sunday. As I got older I realized that everyone was speaking of their testimony of the Mormon Church and I wanted a testimony for myself. I knew that the best way to gain my own testimony was to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know that it is true. As I have read the stories and preachings found in the Book of Mormon and prayed about their truthfulness I have come to develop my own testimony of this book. Ever since I felt the assurance that I knew the Book of Mormon was true I have never looked back. Knowing that the Book of Mormon is true makes living the lifestyle of a Mormon 10 times easier than if I did not have a testimony of its truth. Because I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he restored Christ's Church to this Earth. I know that through the power of prayer, God will lead us down the path he wishes us to take. I know that we have a true and living prophet today: Thomas S. Monson. I know that through living a righteous life I truly experience happiness and can return to my Heavenly Father after this life.

How I live my faith

The best way to describe how I live my faith is by my service to others. A large part of the LDS church is looking out for those around you by serving them and making sure they know that they are loved by our Heavenly Father. I have really come to know the phrase "actions speak louder than words" by being a member of this church. I rarely feel happier than I do when I am serving other children of God. I also live my faith by choosing to serve a full-time mission. During this mission I will be answering questions of those who are investigating the LDS Church.

What is being a Mormon like?

Nate
Being a Mormon makes people view you differently than the rest of the world, which is not necessarily a bad thing. My faith has helped me immensely to know that I have a higher purpose in life than just being liked by my peers. Being Mormon has helped me stay away from things that would damage me physically and emotionally. I have never felt more joy or security than I do when I practice my beliefs. Although being a Mormon in our world today can seem odd and challenging, the blessings received for being a faithful member are easily worth the sacrifices. Show more Show less
