Hi I'm Katherine

I'm a book-lover, dancer, and proud aunt. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a grad student studying Public Policy because I want to save the world! Most of my time is taken up with school, but I love to read, dance, or do anything I haven't tried yet. I come from a family of 5 kids, but I also count my nieces and nephews as surrogate siblings. I've spent 2 years in Austria, first as a German student and later as a missionary for my church, and I go back as often as possible. I'm at a crossroads in life, trying to figure out whether I want to get a PhD or teach for a few years, but I'm excited to see what the next year holds.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I've been part of this church my whole life, I chose for myself to really participate when I was a teenager because of what I felt when I read the scriptures and went to youth activities at church. I haven't had many big epiphanies in my life, but I know I'm in the right place when I feel the Holy Spirit speak to my heart. This usually comes in quiet times when I'm thinking about my life or praying or listening to someone speak in Church. Because of so many of these small witness, I feel that this is God's church. I know that He has prophets that share God's guidance for us, and I feel blessed to have a community that supports me in trying to become more like my Savior.

How I live my faith

My faith shapes the way I see the world and the way I live my life. I feel grateful for what Jesus Christ has done for me, and that connection draws me to try to follow His example. My week really centers on church services where I take the sacrament and learn from people in my congregation as we teach each other. During the rest of the week, I try to understand God's plan for me by praying, reading the scriptures, and taking time to help others.
