Hi I'm Kim

I'm a filmmaker, I have Cystic Fibrosis, and I'm 100% Mormon.

About Me

My name is Kim Haskell, I'm a filmmaker living in Boise, Idaho. I remember seeing a movie with my family when I was 15 and being really shocked by the kind of language in it. I remember walking out of it feeling pretty awful. That day I promised myself that I would make movies that people could watch and feel inspired to be a better person afterwards. I'm working hard to become a director and producer in the future, but now I mainly make wedding videos and videos for businesses. I hope to change lives creating amazing feature films soon, still working on it though. I was also born with a genetic disorder called Cystic Fibrosis which causes lots of issues throughout my body. I do chest therapies 3 times a day and take tons of medication for it. It's a challenge for sure, and it takes a big toll on the rest of my life, sometimes I feel like I am so behind on everything I need to be doing because I need to spend so much time taking care of myself. As hard as it is, I completely believe it is a challenge God has given to me to struggle with while on this earth. I have learned so much because of it, and I have become the person I am through what it's taught me. Some people become bitter when they go through hard things, but I choose to stay optimistic because I know my purpose for being on earth, where I come from, and where I will go when I die.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't know how in the world I could not be a Mormon. The Church has brought me such great joy and happiness, I just want to shout at you through this web page that I believe with all my heart. Can you imagine not knowing what was going to happen after you died? Why God has stopped communicating with us through prophets? What our purpose, our real purpose is in coming to this earth? God has so much love for all of his children, and he wouldn't want to keep us in the dark. I hope that you, the reader can understand me when I say this knowledge could change your life forever, and it has for me; it has changed the way I view every situation I ever face. I know that as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he continues to speak to us, and I have grown closer to him than I ever could by any other way.

How I live my faith

One of the biggest things I can do to live my faith is be a good example to others in the way speak and act. I try every single day to grow closer to my Heavenly Father than I was the day before. It's tough for sure As a holder of the Priesthood, it is my responsibility to visit families in the ward as a Home Teacher. Home Teachers Travel in pairs, and have the responsibility to look after ward members. I have such a large testimony of the importance of this program. As a Home Teacher, I am the Lord's hands in strengthening families. God trusts me to care and look after his children. When we Home Teach, we make sure the family is doing ok, help in any way we can (or get the help they need) and share a brief spiritual message from the First Presidency of the Church. Man, I love Home Teaching. Today, I just took diner over to one of the families I Home Teach Right now I am called as a Ward Missionary. I assist the Ward Mission leader in strengthening families spiritually and physically, and assisting the full time missionaries in our area. On January 23rd, I'll enter the MTC and begin my service as a Missionary. I'm SO excited!

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Kim
Missionaries will teach you about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Plan of Happiness (also known as the Plan of Salvation) and also answer ANY questions you may have about the church. They are a wonderful resource for families both in, and out of the church. They are called by God to teach his word to his children, and that is all they do. Because they have sacrificed so much of their life to this holy calling, you will notice a special spirit about them that carries the word of God strait to your heart and the hearts of your family.
