Hi I'm Jare

I grew up in Illinois and am about to leave for a church mission in Brazil. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In high school I was big into sports. I played football, basketball, and ran track. Besides sports, some of my hobbies are reading and writing along with hanging out with my friends. I will soon be leaving for an LDS mission in Brazil and afterwards I plan on attending a university. What school and what I will study has yet to be determined, but I have two years to decide.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of this church, and over the years have been able to understand just how true it is. For many years I just went to please my parents and because I liked the people, but late in high school I realized I needed to figure out for myself whether or not it was true. Through personal study, prayer, and most importantly experience, I've come to realize that there is no better way to live your life than with the Holy Spirit by your side. I've gained a strong testimony of the atonement and the sacrifice that Christ has made for us to be able to return to our Father, and also a testimony of the love that our Father in heaven has for us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an active member in my ward and attending all church meetings and other activities. I have also served as a home teacher with my father for the past 7 years. Home teaching is where you and a companion (my father) visit an assigned family or two preferably once per month. Well there you generally talk for a while about what's new in their lives, make sure that everything is going well for them, and give them a brief message that you have prepared. I also live my faith through being an example to others in my ward. Being one of the older youth, many of the younger boys look up to me and I try to be as strong of an example as possible to them and help them with whatever I can.
