Hi I'm Dallin Richardson

I am a Mormon, to sum it up. I believe in Jesus Christ, I know that He lives and loves me. I love the gospel of Christ.

About Me

I am 19 years old, living with my family, just about to head out on a mission to Italy! I enjoy playing basketball, learning (or trying to learn) computer languages, writing (with a pen or with a keyboard), playing the piano, and playing the guitar. Those last 2 that I listed are actually the 2 that are most important to me out of all of my hobbies, I LOVE music. Listening to it, creating it, analyzing it, its all fun to me. I am the oldest of 5 children, and I love my family very much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is right, and that this is God's only true church on this earth. I am a Mormon because I have received my own witnesses through the Spirit. I was taught the gospel since birth by my loving parents, but I never understood the church or took it seriously until I was about 13 or 14. A good friend of mine, my senior by 3 years, shared an experience he had with the Book of Mormon. He prayed to know it was true, and received the answer that it was. I was inspired. I tried, for the first time in my life on my own rather than by persuasion from my parents, to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it was true. The experiment was a success and I received my own witness that this is the true word of God, and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who really did translate the Book of Mormon through the Lord's help. I know this with all of my heart, and THAT is why I am a Mormon. If you are not a member and you are reading this, reading and praying about the Book of Mormon was the best thing I've ever done for myself in my life. I have a testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith, and all of his successors. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ, and His Atonement. I love the Lord, in Him I rely. I know that Christ is a living being who loves me personally and unconditionally, and that as long as I do my best to be righteous in this life, repenting all the while, that His grace will be sufficient in the end to reconcile me to my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Right now I have no callings in church, but on December 5th, 2012, I will serve my church and my Lord by being a missionary for 2 years. During my first 2 semesters at Brigham Young University, I was assigned to visit 5 people in my student ward every month, and share a message with them, and tend to their needs. I really enjoyed doing that, and I learned even more to love serving people. I also was asked to be an assistant leader for the 11 year old scouts, and though it was a short assignment, I do feel that I learned a lot from those little guys. I did my civic duty on November 6th, and I voted for a presidential candidate as well as candidates for other political, regional, and academic positions.

What is the First Vision?

Dallin Richardson
The First Vision was the opening of the heavens again, after a long history of Apostasy and lack of general revelation on the earth, to a 14 year old boy named Joseph Smith. The First Vision marks the beginning of the Restoration of Jesus Christ's Church to the Earth. Joseph had wondered which church of all the churches were true, when he read James 1:5 in the Bible :“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him”. He decided to take the scriptures at their word, and he asked God, privately, which church to join. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared unto him and told him to join none of the churches, for none of them contained the full truth of the gospel, and none of them had the authority of the priesthood.
