Hi I'm Damaris

I am 22 years old, born in Mexico and moved to the U.S. at 3 years old, college graduate, and future missionary. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 22 years old and a college graduate with a degree in Health Promotion and Spanish. In high school, my mom signed me up for a program called Junior Volunteers for the hospital. I remember telling her no and getting mad at her for forcing to me go. As I kept going through out my high school career, I learn to love others by serving them in any of their needs. I learned what true charity was. I am so grateful for my mom and her encouraging and pushing me to go. Now as I look back that experience, it made me want to be better. As career wise, I want a job where I can serve others, to change the world for the better, to help the poor and the needy, to be a humanitarian and to follow in the footsteps of Christ. With my degree I am able to help organizations that serve others. Now as a future missionary, I am able to do those exact things as well to invite others to come unto Christ in the Utah Salt Lake City Central Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because by following the footstep of Jesus Christ I have seen the blessing that have been brought into my life. I know that the Book Of Mormon is true. The Book of Mormon have teachings that will lead my life to be much happier and closer to my Father in Heaven. I know that my Savior lives. He loves all us, His children. He each wants us to come unto Him! I know for a fact that his true gospel is here on this earth. That He sent His son Jesus Christ for us. And that our Savior Jesus Christ suffered for all of us hoping that one day we will be able to return to our Father in Heaven and him too. I know we have Prophet who leads and guides us today. I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have made the decision to serve a 18 month mission and am called to serve in the Utah Salt Lake City Central Mission in my Spanish Language. I will invite others to Come unto Christ. I am so excited and nervous but I know this is where the Lord wants me to serve him. I will serve him with all my might, mind and strength because He has given me much. I want you to know that He has a plan for you and that you too can come closer to know our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I have two callings, which are: Young Single Adults Representative and Family History Consultant. I love both of my callings and love being able to serve in my ward. With the Young Single Adults, which is a group for age 18-30 years old, I am in charge of organizing activities, making sure we have Stake activities, and the biggest one I focus on here is: missionary work. We do not have a big group of single adults and so I am in charge of finding the less actives, investigators and finding college students who have moved here to go to the University. I love that part of my calling being able to interact with the young single adults who need a friend and help along the way to come unto our Savior. I send weekly texts to every single one of them with reminders or how we miss them. I hope I have made somewhat, no matter how big or small, impact in their life. I love them all so much. I also do Family History. I have just started and love seeing where I come from and who my ancestors are. I love being able to hear their stories and feel as though I am close to them. I hope I am able to find names to take to the temple. It is interesting to see why our Heavenly Father gave us loving families and why we need them, but why some need us. It is interesting to see the loving Plan that our Heavenly Father has for us and the work of our ancestors. I am excited to share the gospel as a missionary in the Utah Salt Lake City Central Mission.
