I love the fact that Jesus is my Savior. I love the fact that we have a living prophet to lead us and guide us in these later days. I love the fact no matter how difficult life gets, we have a Savior that has atoned for our sins. I love the fact the we are children of our Heavenly Father and he loves us. I love the fact that all is asked of us from our Heavenly Father is to be obedient and keep the commandments. I love the fact that we can make and keep covenants with our Heavenly Father. I love the fact that we are Loved by our Father in Heaven. I love the fact that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his son. I love the fact that I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was a mormon, his father was a mormon, his father's, father was a mormon and yes, his father's father's father was a mormon. Even though I have a heritage of faithful fathers. I had to know for myself that the gospel "good news" is true. The gospel is that Jesus is the Christ. One night I was racked with despair. I remembered the teachings of my mother to kneel in prayer. I kneel one cold January night by the road side. An overwhelming feeling of peace, warmth and love flooded my soul. The cold of the night was replaced by the glow of the spirit. At that moment I knew that my redeemer lived. I had two desires. One to learn more about Jesus Christ. and second was to serve others. I am a Mormon because of the love I have for God and his son Jesus Christ. And the love I feel from God and his son.

How I live my faith

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is easy to live my faith. I take care of my what I call "daily's". Daily prayer, scripture reading, and journal writing every morning. What a wonderful way to start the day strengthening my relationship with my Heavenly Father. I feel my saviors love in everything I do through out the day. I serve. I have learned that to lighten my burdens, I have found to lighten others. I serve my family, my neighbors, and community. My husband and I have activities every monday night where we talk, teach and rejoice in learning about our savior. I truly love my neighbors, where I help with yard work, meals, babysitting anything that lighten their burdens. In my community I go and read with young children in the elementary school.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Mary Jo Allen
A testimony is a spiritual witness given to an individual by the Holy Ghost. The foundation of my testimony is the knowledge that Heavenly Father lives and loves me; that Jesus lives, that He is the Son of God, and that He carried out the infinite Atonement; that Joseph Smith is a prophet, he saw god the father and his son. He was called to restore Jesus Christ's church to the earth' that we are led today by a living prophet' and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Savior's Church restored on the earth today. It is because of my testimony that I can live through the adversity that comes my way. It is my faith and hope and charity that sees me through rough times. It is my faith that my prayers will be answered. It my hope that tomorrow will come and it acts of charity that lifts my burdens. Show more Show less
