Hi I'm Mark

I am a software developer and have been developing software for over 20 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 4 with 2 teenagers. I have been married for over 19 years. I earned a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, but have never worked as and Electrical Engineer. I started developing software while still going to school and have been doing it ever since. I am very passionate about my work and software development. I am currently a software architect. 16 years after getting my bachelor's degree, I decided to go back to school and get a Master's degree in Computer Science. I am currently attending a university, working full time, coaching volleyball, serving in Church and everything else a husband and father of 4 does. Life is busy, but we make sure to take time for fun as well. We love Disney and spend many vacations at Disneyland or on a Disney Cruise. Making time to have fun together as a family has helped us remain a close and strong family. We also enjoy camping and the outdoors. My wife and I enjoy hiking. We hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim a few years ago and hope to do it again sometime.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS church, but that is not why I stay. I have had many experiences in my life when I have felt the love of our Father in Heaven. The Holy Ghost has testified to my more than once that the Book of Mormon is true and the Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know for myself that Jesus is our Savior and that He lives. I have seen how much good comes from the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teaching of the LDS church. My experiences and the influence of the Holy Ghost have given me the conviction to remain faithful as a Mormon. As passionate as I am about software development, I am even more passionate about my faith in Jesus Christ and in the LDS church.

How I live my faith

I am able to use the skills I have developed working in IT for my career in my church service as well. I am the technology specialist for my local area and ensure all our computers are working and up to date. I also ensure we have networking and internet connectivity. On multiple occasions, I have setup internet based broadcasts of meetings from one building to others. I also work with our youth. We meet weekly on Wednesday nights for activities that interest the young men in our group. I teach them on Sunday's in church. Our young men are exemplary boys.
