Hi I'm CaryLynn

I grew up in a small town in Washington state. I am a student at BYU and soon-to-be missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and I am studying Psychology. I love music, playing guitar or piano and singing. I also love racing sailboats, which has been a wonderful opportunity to exemplify what I believe in. Many of the people who sail don't live our standards, but being able to share my beliefs with them has been a great experience. I grew up going to schools where there weren't too many members of the church, so many of my friends were non-members and I believe that there are good people everywhere. We all have our own beliefs and the best way to teach and share is to show our beliefs through our actions. I love learning about other religions because we are all searching for the same thing: happiness. And while others try to find it, we have it and we need to share it with everyone and anyone.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that happiness is out there. It is the ultimate goal and I believe that I have found it. I have searched for truth and happiness, for a "something" that rings true. This world is chaotic and everyone is running this way and that, seeking success, fortune, entertainment, power. But these things are empty without a reason, a purpose for being here. I believe that through the Church of Jesus Christ and its teachings about our purpose here and our ultimate goal, we can find the answers that we seek, the fulfillment and contentment, the peace and understanding that comes from something greater than ourselves. I know that there are answers and that there are consequences for all actions, much as there are universal laws such as gravity. I believe that as we choose to do what is right, we will be blessed, and if we choose to do evil, we will be punished. And as all man are susceptible to temptation, I know that our loving Heavenly Father has prepared a plan to help us make up for our mistakes and help us reach happiness for ever. I live this gospel because it brings me close to my Savior and Heavenly Father who love me and care about me. I have learned for myself that I am never alone, even when life gives me lemons. And I know with certainty that everyone can come to know this for themselves. The gospel is for everyone and we are all important as individuals. We are sons and daughters of God with a divine heritage and future.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me, being active in my ward and in my community. I am a teacher in my Relief Society and every other week I have the opportunity to teach the sisters in my ward about gospel principles. I love my calling and I know that I learn just as much or more than they do during my lessons. We all have so much to share and I love hearing others' testimonies. I also think that we can be the answers to others' prayers as we look for opportunities to serve others and recognize their needs. I live my faith by trying to be a friend to those who need one and randomly dropping in on people to tell them I was thinking about them. I volunteer at the mental hospital, taking care of underprivileged and struggling youth. I also help plan and support ward activities and service projects.
