Hi I'm Sam Odd

I'm from Cache Valley Utah. I love the outdoors. I live in Mongolia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the best place on Earth - Cache Valley Utah! I love the outdoor recreactional opportunites Utah provides...If it's snowing I'm skiing! I am always down for a night in the woods with family and friends. School for me is also a blast, I love learning. I am a Civil Engineering major at Utah State University and will return to class after I finish serving in the Mongolia Ulaanbaatar Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that already had a strong foundation in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, a privilege not all have. I count myself lucky to have grown up with the Gospel weaven into my daily learning. However even with a strong foundation I had to decide whether or not to build upon that foundation. My continued resolve to remain a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints comes from the knowledge that I would be nothing without the help of the Savior in my life. As I have lived in the world and seen what it is like trying to live with no hope for a better world, no dream of eternal families, no desire or will to change I have realized that the Gospel gives us exactly this. The Gospel gives us hope for a perfect world with Heavenly Father. The Gospel gives us not just a dream but knowledge of eternal families. The Gospel us the way and will to change our lives into accordance with the Lord's will. For me the Gospel just makes sense. When I pray I get answers. When I read the scriptures I am inspired. When I attend Church on Sundays and am renewed. All these simple testimonies combine to teach me that the manual "How to Live Life for Dummies" (Which we all really are if you look at it in perspective) is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is simply no other way.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through example. I'll be the first to admit that I am not a perfect example every minute of every day. However I strive to be someone that others can look to for guidance, for strength, for encouragement, and for support. As a missionary opportunities come daily, nearly hourly, to stand for what you believe, to be the example that the Savior would have us be, to be as Paul said "...Not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ". I try in my daily actions to be kinder than usual, to have more patience than is normal, and serve more selflessly. Living my faith comes through the daily small choices that build a follower of Christ.
