Hi I'm Marilyn

I am the mother of seven children. I teach piano lessons. I am the caregiver to my adult disabled child.

About Me

Hi! I'm Marilyn. I am a wife, mother to seven children and grandmother to four. I am also a part-time paino teacher. I live in a small Mormon community in central Utah. Two of my children still live at home. My youngest is in high school. Then there is Heather. She is my perpetual child. Though she is actually 29 year olds, Heather functions on a four year old level. I am Heather's care giver. Heather's siblings have all helped with this task. Soon it will be just my husband, Heather and I at home. Heather can do many simply tasks, but she still requires 24 hours care and assistance in many areas. Most of the time I feel good with this situation. I believe Heather is a child of God and has been given these limitations just for this life. Because of the teachings of Jesus Christ I have the assurance that Heather will be resurrected with a prefect body and mind. She is my sweet daughter now and will be forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe this is His church, restored to the earth through a modern-day prophet, Joseph Smith. I know that as I follow Christ teachings I can have peace and happiness in life, no matter what challenges I may experience . I love my family and want to be united with them in this life and the next. Because God has restored His authority to the earth, my family and I can live together throughout the eternities.

How I live my faith

I attend worship services each Sunday with my family. Heather also attends and is welcomed by the other members of our congregation. I play the organ in our services and enjoy being in our ward choir. I love music and spend an hour each day at our church house practicing the hymns on the organ. I am not paid for these musical services that I provide in our meetings. All who serve in our church donate their time and talents without monitory pay. I know the Lord the blesses us greatly in other ways. Each morning our family gathers for a fifteen minute devotional before breakfast. We read the scriptures and pray together. On Monday night we spend time together. This is called our family home evening. We have a prayer, a song, lesson or story, sometime a game or activity. Refreshment are always included. Twice a month my husband and I attended the temple together. This is a reverent place where we can feel closed to our Heavenly Father and do work in behalf of our deceased ancestors.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Each missionary pays for his own mission. This amounts to about $9,000 for two years. The missionary's family also helps with this expense. Show more Show less
