Hi I'm Sydney

I'm a missionary in the Florida Tallahassee Mission. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I thrive on learning new things. I love going to University and studying politics. My favorite pass-time is going out for lunch with friends while discovering new cafes and bistros. I love festivals and farmer's markets. I enjoy traveling and seeing the wonders of the earth, large and small. I like to paint and I love books. I love to write little notes to those I love and hide them where I know they'll find them. I love the little things and I love appreciating the journey we call life.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon for six and half years but I was an "active non-member" for four years before that. My dad was an active member all of my life but my mother was Lutheran and insisted that my sister and I be brought up in that faith. I loved my faith but we all felt there was something missing and much discord in the family. After many years of studying and investigating we all, on our own time, (myself at age 16) chose to be baptized as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since then, my younger brothers have had the privilege of being baptized at age eight and our family has been sealed together in the temple. My faith has only grown stronger since my conversion. There was a time after I was baptized that I needed to re-evaluate and reassure myself that this was the path I wanted to follow in my life. From that time my life has been filled with more blessings and joy than I could have imagined. My testimony has grown and my conviction to follow the Saviour and align my will with His has expounded exponentially. If these are the blessings I receive for a little bit of obedience then how great shall be my joy in the kingdom of my Father if I can continue all my life to please Him.

How I live my faith

Since I live in an area where there is an abundance of church members, I attend a Young Single Adult (YSA) Ward. My life is greatly influenced by those with whom I associate in the YSA community in the city in which I live. There truly is strength in numbers. Various activities are organized so that we can get together often to strengthen each other in a myriad of ways. These activities also provide ways for us to invite others to join in our community. I strive to live the gospel both within and without my church community. I hold high standards for myself and surround myself with good and uplifting influences. It is not always easy and I sometimes falter but I have always held on to my faith and my hope that the Lord will forgive my shortcomings and lead me back to righteousness. Through my trials I have come to learn of His love for me and the power of His Atonement.
