Hi I'm Bethany

I'm a teacher at heart. I love to be active and being with children. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a sophomore college student trying to juggle work and study time. I'm studying in the exercise and wellness program, and hope to one day help others live healthier lifestyles. I work at a pool as a lifeguard during the summer where I coach and teach swimming lessons. During the school year I work in an after school program with elementary school kids. I love to spend lots of time in the outdoors enjoying any good weather I can get. Being active and feeding my body right is a special interest of mine. I have participated in a bunch of sports, ranging from synchronized swimming to pole vaulting and cheerleading. I also play the piano and flute. Singing with a choir is also a favorite hobby of mine.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. Both my parents are LDS, but my mother was a convert to the church at 18. My mother is the fist in her family to join the church. My father was also born into the church, but his dad was inactive in the church for a portion of his life. With all the good examples around me, and being brought up in the church, I still had to find out for myself that this is the true church. For most of my life I just went through the motions. I did everything just because I was supposed to. But then the time came when I needed to know for myself. I needed to know WHY I was doing what I was doing. This happened, for me, while I was in Jr.High and had just started seminary. I started asking more questions and began to read my scriptures more. But even with me doing all this I didn't feel like I had a testimony, my own testimony, not my parents, until I was in my junior year of high school. It took that long! It was a very gradual process; I never had that great revelation that told me everything was true. I had to learn, ponder, and have the desire to gain a testimony. Even know, after years of seminary and institute, I'm still working hard to build on my testimony. I know I have a testimony now. One that is based on my experiences and no one else's. Some of those experiences brought me to a point where I had no one else to turn to but the Lord. It was during those times that I could say with out a doubt that there is a Heavenly Father that loves me and is watching over me. I'm a mormon because it is the only true church on the earth today. To me, it's the only one that makes sense; that connects all the missing pieces and make me happy and feel complete. Many are searching for happiness in the world today, and the wonderful thing about this church is that it gives the tools to reach a pure and perfect happiness.

How I live my faith

I have held a few different leadership positions while working with the youth. Right after graduating I was called to teach the CTR 5 class. I also am a visiting teacher. In the community I have donated many service hours; many of which were spent at the local pool as a Jr. Lifeguard or at the neighborhood elementary school working with the kids. I have also participated in different service projects that involved cleaning out ally ways, cleaning parks, and repainting canals.
