Hi I'm Katherine

I'm from Utah. I work 2 jobs and am preparing for graduate school. I love to laugh and have fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Washington, but have lived in Utah most of my life. I graduated a few years ago from Utah State University with a bachelor's in Speech-Language Pathology. Since then I have had the opportunity to live and work in Hawaii and serve as a full-time missionary in Donetsk, Ukraine! I loved sharing my beliefs in Ukraine and had to work really hard to learn Russian because it did not come easy for me! My family is amazing. I have 6 little brothers and sisters who always keep me laughing and a mom and dad who are my heroes. Life is a wonderful adventure and I love to take opportunities to try new things and meet new people. Some of my hobbies include traveling, running, learning about nutrition, service, most anything outdoors, and having fun with friends and family. My favorite dessert is definitely chocolate. I am preparing to go back to school soon and pursue a Master's degree in Speech Pathology.

Why I am a Mormon

From the time I was little I have had wonderful parents who taught me about Jesus and the importance of keeping the commandments so we can live together as a family with Heavenly Father forever. When you are young, sometimes commandments can seem like just a lot of rules and restrictions, but as I grew older I began realizing the peace and protection that had come into my life from doing what God asks of us. I know that our Heavenly Father has a plan for his children to grow and progress here on earth so we can return to live with him and enjoy the blessings that he has. Overcoming trials and temptations makes us stronger and helps us develop God-like qualities such as patience, love, and humility. Living on my own for several years now I have had the choice to continue in my faith or not. A big decision for me came when I felt very strongly that I wanted to serve a mission. As I prepared to leave for Ukraine I was nervous and wondered how I could really know that I knew this was true! I was about to go half-way around the world! I prayed hard and continued to move forward. Into my life came a moment of realization that I had all the evidence of knowledge I needed. All I had to do was look back on the last 20 something years of my life and see what blessings had come and where I had been led. I know Heavenly Father loves me. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ is on the earth today and it is the truth. I have hope in this life and hope for the eternities. I am a Mormon because I know it is the path to a happiness that will last forever.

How I live my faith

The life of Jesus Christ was filled with service and sacrifice. If I pattern my life after the Savior and follow in His footsteps I can return to live with my Heavenly Father. So, I try to find opportunities to serve no matter how great or small they might be. I currently attend a ward of all young single adults and was recently called to serve as an activities coordinator for the girls in our ward. I've had fun getting to know everyone better as we plan activities that will help us develop new friendships and strengthen our talents and faith in God.
