Hi I'm Decker

I live in Michigan but attend BYU. I love to play basketball and spend quality time with my great family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing all sports, mainly basketball. I also play tennis, baseball, and enjoy raquet-balling it up. I am currently a Chemical Engineering major attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I have grown up in the church in Michigan where we have gone on many-a-campout and tremendous youth adventures.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because this gospel is the path to returning to be with our God for all eternity. I know that if we abide by our Heavenly Father's commandments, it will help us learn and grow so that we can BECOME who we want to be and have our Father lovingly welcome us with open arms at the last day. I know that this gospel has the fullness of Christ's ministry on Earth and that it is through Him that we achieve anything. His atoning sacrifice gives comfort to us and allows us even a chance to become perfect to have eternal life. He is perfect and has given us a tremendous opportunity. This life is that opportunity and through living and learning in His gospel, we can achieve the best possible eternity: life in heaven with our Heavenly family.

How I live my faith

I have been in several callings including each of the Young Men's quorum presidencies. I was also the Priesthood Pianist for a few years back in Michigan. Currently, I am the Ward Mission Leader in a Young Single Adult ward at BYU. I love to home teach and better befriend my ward members. I enjoy listening to hymns and gospel music which encourages the presence of the Holy Ghost in my life. The gift of the Holy Ghost is one of the best, most peaceful, comforting and reassuring gifts we have been given. I am so greatful for it. I will also be serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Huancayo, Peru. I enter the Peru Missionary Training Center on September 25. I am so excited to serve the people of Peru and to be able to teach the beautiful people there. I am so excited to share my testimony and knowledge with them.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

The only beings that we worship are the one God, our Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, our Savior who died so that we could repent and be resurrected. We do not worship Joseph Smith, but we do come to know that He was a prophet of God. He did speak to Heavenly Father and Christ but we do not worship him. We love him for his faith and hard work in restoring the church and we know he is a prophet. He is not a God, but a human that was extremely in tune with the divine. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, not a God. Show more Show less
