Hi I'm Douglas Bywater

I was born in Utah and graduated from the University of Utah. We live in the Northern Virginia Area.

About Me

I came to Virginia to go to Law School. I opened a general practice and have been practicing law for 40 years. I love to sail, ski and woodwork. I married Virginia Lundgren just before we moved to Virginia. We have 4 children (3 of whom live near us) and 12 grandchildren (with 1 on the way).

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church, but had to gain my own testimony of it's truthfulness. Being a missionary for 2 years as a young man gave me the doctrinal background and the spiritual confirmation that this work is true and that this is God's Church on the earth. I have come to know that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God and that we have a prophet that leads and guides the church today.

How I live my faith

Most of my Church assignments have been working with youth. For 13 school yeas I taught early morning Seminary. I presently teach the Priest Quorum (16-18 year old young men). I also served as Bishop of a Young Single Adult Ward. I help my neighbors by clearing their driveways after snow. I have also coached young men in baseball and basketball.
