Hi I'm Dalenna

I grew up in Seattle. I love the mountains. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student who loves history. I think you can learn a lot of lessons from it. I'm the oldest in my family with four younger siblings. I love water polo and swimming, which I did in high school. I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies with friends, and making friendship bracelets. I grew up near Mount. Rainier and went hiking there all the time. I love the outdoors, going camping, hiking, or exploring.

Why I am a Mormon

I'll admit that I grew up in the church, however I have come to know for myself that this church is true. I can feel it every time I read in the Book of Mormon, every sunday that I partake of the sacrament, and every time I enter the temple. Christ and his atonement mean so much to me. I could not imagine my life without the hope and joy that knowledge of Jesus and his atonement bring me. I know that through Christ and his commandments I can return to my Heavenly Father. I can be with my family for eternity and someday when I get married and have a family of my own I can be with them for eternity. I know where I come from, why I'm on the earth, and where I will go after this life. This knowledge has blessed me and brought me so much peace. Am I a perfect person? Most definitely not! However through Jesus Christ I can strive to be the person I want to be, I can strive to be as close to the Savior as I can get.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week, my faith is a huge part of my life. I have done different things within my church, such as teaching the kids in sunday school, or primary as we call it for kids 11 and younger. I've watched really young kids so that their parents can enjoy meetings. I've also taught sunday school and helped organize activities. I really enjoy being apart of the community and doing charity or service for others that need it.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples were built anciently as told in the bible. Today we build them in order to perform sacred and eternal ordinances or promises. One of which is eternal marriage so that we may be with our spouse for all of eternity, not "til death do you part". We also perform baptisms for the dead. A living person will stand in proxy of someone who did not have the opportunity to receive Christ's gospel on the earth, so that they may choose to accept it in the spirit world. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

We very much are Christians. We accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe in and find joy in his atonement. He was the Son of God, the only perfect man to ever live on the earth. He is the ultimate head of our church and we follow is words and teachings. We pray and worship in his name. Everything we do is based on him. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

We follow what is called the Law of Tithing. We do this to show our faith in the Lord. He gives us all that we have so we contribute only ten percent of that to help build up his kingdom. We know that when we pay tithing we are blessed as is stated in Malachi 3:8-10. The Lord has given us so much that ten percent of my earthly wealth doesn't seem like that much to pay back.
