Hi I'm Marcie

I'm a wife. I'm a mother of five. I'm happy. I'm hopeful. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My oldest daughter describes me as a "fun perfectionist." As a mom, I working on losing the "perfectionist" and just embracing the "fun" of raising a family. I am realistic about the challenges of motherhood, but my family is my absolute joy! Together, we love to spend our days at the beach, the park, or the lake; but also enjoy a cozy movie night. Personally, I look forward to date nights with my husband, hanging out with friends, reading a great book, and running (when I can talk myself into it). I feel like a pretty ordinary girl with an extraordinary faith. My faith and my family are everything to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a very loving and supportive family, I was baptized by my grandpa at age 8, but I was not raised in the Church. My family did not practice any religion in our home. At age 14, I just felt like something was missing from my life. There was a church just a few blocks away, so one Sunday morning, I just got up and walked to Church. I found peace there...and answers. It gave me something to hold on to in an unsettling time in my life. I began studying the scriptures and as I finished reading the Book of Mormon, I read in Moroni 10:4 that, "if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." And I was afraid. I was trembling as I knelt and I remember wondering if I was afraid that it was true or afraid that it wasn't true, but I knew that the answer would change my life forever. And it has! I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Jesus Christ lives and loves me.

How I live my faith

I live my in two ways: 1) Quietly and privately in my home through personal prayer and scripture study. I try to invite inspiration and guidance from Heavenly Father in my personal life. I recognize God's love for me and my family and appreciate His awareness of me. 2) I try to share the love of God with others through service. What could be more rewarding than being an answer to someone else's prayers? As I do my best to bless the lives of those around me, I think of Jesus Christ. I try to love as He loves and give as He gives. He helps me just as He has promised. Currently, I teach the Young Women in our ward - ages 12-18. We have Sunday lessons as well as weekly activities designed to help the girls discover their talents, serve others, develop uplifting friendships, and in the process, come to know their Savior, Jesus Christ. I love these girls and I'm inspired by their faith and courage in the face of so much social pressure. I am learning more from them than I could ever possibly teach.
