Hi I'm Jordan Bankston

I was born in Napa, California and I'm a Missionary!

About Me

Like I said, I am a missionary. My hobbies are Scripture Study, Hiking, Origami, Computers, and Videogames (when I was at home). I am a people person and always like meeting new faces!

Why I am a Mormon

The Scriptures are the rock of my testimony. Quite a few years ago I hit a real slump in my life. I decided that to achieve a higher level of contentment in my life that I would have to become a better person. Eventually I figured that I might need help becoming something I was not, so I decided that I had to find something more solid. After some thought it seemed that the easiest way to get the information I was looking for was to read the bible. I knew that many organizations used the bible as their 'text book' so I figured that I might find what I wanted in there. I started reading the bible, not to believe but for the rules. So that is what I did, I got to Exodus, found the Mosaic law and was content. So I started to follow it, and it was hard. It can be hard to follow the 10 commandments (or even remember them) without practice. Actually it was so hard for me, that it made me despair. I felt like I would never be able to achieve what I had set out to do. In fact I felt so bad that I couldn't even keep 10 little rules, that one evening, not knowing what else to do, I knelt down and prayed. And that is when I first felt the spirit. I joined this church because of the discernment through knowledge that the scriptures gave me. In Matthew 13 in the parable of the sower I learned that when good seed falls into good ground it brings forth forth good fruit, sometimes an hundredfold, sometimes sixtyfold, sometimes thirtyfold. With this scripture, I discovered that not all good things are equal. When I came to this church I was amazed at how the members acted. With the huge emphasis on missionary work and humanitarian aid I didn't think (and still don't think) that any church has more fruit than this one. My conversion to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints wasn't exactly easy, but I just couldn't deny that it was plainly producing more than my old church and I wanted to be a part of that.

How I live my faith

Before I left home I was the assistant branch missionary and before that I was the Gospel Doctrine Sunday school teacher and President of the Chior. My motto is " the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me (D&C 25:12)." --- Now I live my faith as a full-time missionary in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a full-time missionary I voluntarily serve the Lord, and the community that I am called to, for two years. Missionaries preach a message that is focoused on Jesus Christ, and that is of great value and importance. We teach through faith, hope, and love the good news of the gospel. Our purpose is to bring souls to Christ, so that they can find the happiness that we ourselves have found. I am compelled to share the gospel message with everyone I meet. I want as many as possible to know the secret to becoming truely free.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Nothing good happens without the Influence of the Holy Ghost. The secret in life is having the Holy Ghost as your constant companion. Do that and you are set! When I am under the influence of the Holy Ghost I feel like Paul said in Philippians, " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Show more Show less
