Hi I'm Kelly

I'm an avid dreamer and world explorer. I live each day purposefully. I'm a Mormon and I'm the happiest gal alive.

About Me

I smile a lot. I eat a lot. And I live each day purposefully. I believe this life is a gift and offers every reason for individuals to develop their full potential. My passions and interests lie internationally, and I aspire to become familiar with and serve all the cultures sharing this world. I don't know much about anything so I have a deep love for learning, and I feel that the greatest knowledge can come from being aware of and appreciating all the walks of life surrounding us, anywhere. I'm an adventurer! I've backpacked, hitchhiked, couchsurfed, motorbiked, climbed mountains, roamed bamboo groves, swam in different seas and even taught school-aged children. I grew up in Southern California but have moved around a bit and find home to be in San Francisco. I'm half Japanese (half Caucasian) and the middle of six children - I love it! Some of my favorite things are being in water, uplifting conversations, colorful sky, massages and incense.

Why I am a Mormon

In 2011 promptings led me to make a spontaneous move to Japan. I lived there for two years, traveling, learning the language, and teaching children. One day my entire life changed. I had been practicing Buddhism for a few months and was in a gathering of 200-300 people, chanting to what looks like a golden altar -the Sokka Gakkai Buddhist' object of devotion, when one day the most powerful feeling overcame me. It told me to stop. "God is to whom we pray", the feeling said. I was startled! I didn't know if God existed up until that point and wasn't exactly on the search for Him, but The Lord became known unto me that day. I cannot deny it! Several other astounding spiritual experiences took place shortly after and I was led to the Mormon Church. I was shown the truthfulness of this Church simply, but powerfully, through feelings. It's now been over three years, and I have grown in my knowledge and belief that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints IS God's Church, restored and carrying the fulness of Jesus Christ's gospel as He taught it years ago when He walked on the earth.

How I live my faith

My entire life is the gospel. Or I should say the gospel is my lifestyle. Every day is an opportunity to grow, learn and serve, and because my ultimate desire is to become like our Savior and Elder Brother Jesus Christ, I try to live every day as He would. I have come to know for myself - through experience, through personal prayer and inquiring, and through much pondering - that I (and each one of us) am a child of God. Because of this, every one of my decisions is influenced by such knowledge. I'm in no way perfect at making all the right choices, but I know which way I face, what direction I walk in, and the destination I am trying to head. That is, back to my Home where my Heavenly Father awaits. This means trying to be aware at all times of the thoughts that I let pass through my head, the words I speak, and every action - both seen and unseen by others.
