Hi I'm Austin F

I grew up in Sacramento CA. I like business. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I enjoy creating things. My current output for expression is through my self taught web design / development skills. While I really hate being identified as a web developer (a title which feels limiting to me) I have found that online is one of the last real "wild west" situations where you can write your own ticket, so in that sense I wear that title as a badge of honer! I grew up on a year-round swim team and had the opportunity to travel all over the place for swim meets. I absolutely LOVE shepherds pie, and completely despise olives. I was in the boy scouts, but never finished receiving my eagle badge because I waited until the last second to try and squeeze everything in. I started my own company, just before leaving for two years on a mission, so we will see where that goes. And I really absolutely totally and completely love the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church, though I do not believe that gave me any kind of advantage to BEING a Mormon. For me it actually made it harder. I grew up in a very faithful family in the Mormon church. I never had to think about why we were going every sunday, we just did. I never had to think about why I fasted once a month, I just did. I never had to think about why the atonement of Jesus Christ was so important, it just was! I took all these things for granted, and never really questioned any of it. Because of this I took no thought as to how I was living my life in relation to the gospel and eventually had to have a very large, very public, and very uncomfortable situation arise where I was forced to look inside myself and ask "What am I doing??" As horrible as that self inflicted event was, I am so grateful for it. It forced me to look inside myself and compare my skewed moral compass, to the teachings of Jesus Christ. It forced me to rely on His atonement for forgiveness, and it gave me a knowledge of the peace and joy that comes after repentance. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I grew up in a blessed environment. I have a wonderful family, which believes to their core the value of hard work. As a result of living this value, almost every family member would be considered wealthy monetarily. While no family (including mine) is perfect, I grew up in a blessed environment. My family is strong in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and because of this, they do their best to live the values which Jesus Christ taught. Living those values & principles has blessed them both physically & spiritually, so again, I grew up in a blessed environment. I repeat this fact over and over, because its what makes it so odd that I started my teen years by moving down very strange paths. I have lived first hand and experienced going against the pure truths the gospel teaches. I have gone far enough down that road to see what was at the end, which made me come sprinting back. My life has been blessed immensely since I truly began to live those freedom enabling principles, and can attest first hand to the happiness and joy you receive by following them.
