Hi I'm Rebecca

I love to learn, laugh, and serve. I am a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend. I love Christ... and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I come from a large family and was raised by my wonderful mother, who helped my siblings and I to know of and experience God's love for all of us, and who has always been an amazing example of service. I love to listen to music, sing, dance, and play violin and piano. I love to read! I like playing volleyball, basketball, ping pong, soccer, volleytensocpongball, racquetball... and I especially like running. I like to knit, sew, crochet, and draw. I love people; I enjoy talking with people, helping people, and being with people. I am fascinated by family history. I like languages, math, science, history, and music. I am especially interested in sciences because I like to know how things work, especially pertaining to health. I am currently in college to be a physical therapist. I am also studying Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it teaches the true, complete gospel of Jesus Christ. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and because of that I want to follow Christ and keep His commandments. I know Christ provided the way for all people to return to live with Him and experience true happiness in this life and the life to come. He provided the way for me to repent, and provides the strength to overcome weaknesses because He loves us! He provides prophets to testify, exhort, teach, share, warn, and direct us, because He loves us! Christ is my Savior, my Redeemer, my friend. The gospel of Christ is the way to true and everlasting happiness and peace. That is why I am a member of Christ's church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures and praying every day, attending church and sacrament meeting, and looking for opportunities to help others and share my testimony. All of this helps me as I try to become a better person and follow Christ's example. Other activities help me stay focused on Christ. I work with the youth ages 12-18 in the Church by teaching lessons, organizing activities and service projects. I attend institute classes to learn more about the scriptures and the teachings of modern-day prophets. It is awesome to attend these classes and learn from other students by hearing their thoughts and testimonies. I also go to the temple whenever possible, because it is a place where I can feel peace and happiness.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I am interested in sciences, and the more I learn science, the more I know that God exists. The intricacy of the human body and how all the systems work together; the laws of physics; the make-up of all the elements that come together so perfectly to make all the compounds we could possibly need - all this and more proves to me there is a God. Everyday occurrences that some people term "coincidences" also remind me of the existence of God, Who is aware of and works in the details of our lives as well as the big picture. Most importantly, the love and peace I feel whenever I talk to my Heavenly Father, whether I need help and guidance or I am expressing my thanks, reminds me without a shadow of a doubt that there is a God. What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Homosexual thoughts and feelings are very real. While the feelings and inclinations themselves are not sinful, God makes it clear that acting on those feelings and having homosexual relations is a sin. Part of the reason why we are here on earth is to learn to control our actions and use our agency to choose to not sin. Every person has weaknesses and inclinations that are difficult to keep in check, but every person is a loved son or daughter of Heavenly Father. Through Christ, any inclinations to do sin - homosexual sins as well as any other sin - can be overcome. Show more Show less
