Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up by the ocean. I love sociology. I am adopted. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 5 adopted children, and I looove my beautiful, multi-cultural family! I grew up in the beautiful islands of Hawaii, where I learned that sticky rice goes with every food ever! I am super open to tasting any food you have made and I'll share my own! Cooking is definitely one of my things. I love the kitchen and do everything there! Including singing. I love using my voice to have fun! I sing loud and proud, not always on key or in time. I firmly believe that just about everything in life can be fun. I have attended 3 semesters of college in the glorious state of Utah, and I'm not sure what I'm studying yet. I'm considering my favorite subject, sociology, and my favorite occupation I've tried, elementary education. Reading was one of my favorite fun activities growing up, and when I have the time I still love reading a silly, cheesy love story, but only the kind with a happy ending. I play the piano all the time, and I am endeavoring to learn the organ, but it's definitely harder than it looks. I am SO excited to be taking an 18 month break from school to share the beautiful Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I I choose to be every day and I am so happy! My wonderful parents adopted me at birth. They raised me in their beliefs and I was baptized a member of this beautiful church at age 8, and I was soo happy! I had strong faith and believed it was the true Gospel. About a year and a half later, though, I realized I didn't know for sure and I really wanted that confirmation, that knowledge. I made a point to ask about it for the years to follow and little by little in my conversations with the Lord through prayer, scripture study, and in every day life, my faith became knowledge. The Lord has confirmed to me so often that He truly does love me and really truly wants me to be so happy. My relationship with my Father in Heaven is one that I wouldn't trade for anything. He takes care of me when I'm on stage singing my heart out, and when I'm in my apartment crying because I failed my physical science test. My parents are right up there as two of my most cherished gifts from the Lord. Being adopted has given me so many opportunities to learn about the Lord's love for me and has truly strengthened my relationships with those in my family and around me, and has supported my testimony of this Gospel. I feel so much joy when I do things with my family, and so much of that joy is from knowing that through this gospel and the Atonement of Jesus Christ, my family is eternal. We will have the opportunity to be together in heaven forever, even after death. I am so excited and grateful for the chance I have each day to learn and grow and work towards an eternity with the people that I love most. I am so thankful that I have the privilege of serving a mission and sharing this beautiful Gospel with all whom I meet!

How I live my faith

One of my favorite parts of being a member of this church is that there are so many opportunities to learn and to serve. In my ward now I teach a group of children that are 6 years old. They are sometimes very excited, but they are easily calmed with the promise of candy and stickers, and they are so eager to learn. I have gained so much from my time teaching them. They want nothing more than to make their leaders happy and their hearts are so open and pure. They inspire me to be a better person. They have also given me the opportunity to see if the classroom setting is really for me. I get to teach lessons and participate in fun activities with them, including coloring and singing. It is soo fun! I've also had the privilege of planning activities and food for young adults my age. Let me tell you, sometimes the planning can be a little stressful, but people are so fun! We've gone on photo scavenger hunts, made music videos, sung songs, decorated cookies! There is nothing better than some good clean fun with people your age. There is so much joy in positive activities. I learned a lot in this position about being a leader and the importance of delegation. Actively being involved in this community of faith has such a positive effect in my life. I get to serve others, love so many different people, and learn so much from the Lord's wonderful children. I am soo excited to spend all of 18 months as a missionary serving the people in my area full time. I can't imagine anything more wonderful than the opportunity to devote all of my time and effort to the Lord's work. It's amazing!
