Hi I'm Sarah

I'm a born and raised Texan. I'm an aspiring journalist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying Broadcast Journalism. I love meeting new people and telling people's stories. I believe everyone has a unique story to tell. I grew up in Texas on a farm and love animals and the outdoors. I'm from a small town, and loved growing up in a close-knit community. I have 2 brothers and a sister. Our family is big and loud and loves to have fun! At school, I live with my 4 best friends. We enjoy 10 minute dance parties and making food for other people.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom was raised LDS. My dad is a convert. I was born and raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even though I've always considered myself a Mormon, there was definitely a point in my life when I had to decide if I believed like my parents did. When I was a teenager, I decided to find out for myself. I read the Book of Mormon, and I prayed to my Heavenly Father to know if this church that I had spent my whole life in was true. I testify that it is. Through His Holy Spirit, my Father in Heaven told me so, and I know He will give an answer to each and every one of His children. I'm a Mormon because being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brings me the greatest joy I have ever known. Through this gospel, I know that I am daughter of God, that He loves me and knows who I am. I know that He has made a way for my family to be together forever, that when this earth life is over we can still be a family and learn to be like God, that one day we can inherit all He has to offer. The greatest thing - He wants us to succeed and become like Him! I'm a Mormon because I know where I come from, why I'm here on earth, and where I'm going after this life, and what my Heavenly Father wants me to be!

How I live my faith

I've played the piano since I was 5 years old. I enjoy playing the piano in church and leading the choir. I've also been able to teach classes for children in the church. I've been a teacher for adults too. At college, I get to lead weekly family nights for college students. We get together like a real family and play games, teach lessons, and eat food. It's a great way to get to know each other better and have a family experience even though you're far from home. Over the years, I've helped organize many church service projects in the community. It's great to be the Lord's helping hands!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons are not required to serve missions. I decided to serve a mission because I wanted other people to know how to be happy, and that they're families can be together forever! A mission is a sacrifice. I personally put my education, career, and personal life on hold for 18 months so I could serve. Yes, it's a sacrifice, but it's also the greatest blessing to serve the Lord and His children! Show more Show less
