Hi I'm Brenly

I'm a UC Berkeley student who's taking an 18-month break from school to serve a mission for the Lord.

About Me

I am living a pretty average but a very happy and learning-oriented life. I like reading, hiking, driving, and talking to people! I've spent two years at college studying Society and Environment and Global Poverty and Practice, and this has been so enlightening for me. I am learning that there is so much more to life than the next class or the best grade; I am learning that helping others is literally the most significant and most comforting thing I can do. Nature is where I go to feel at home because it's where I can feel the love of God. I'm serving a mission in Southern France; I know that service is the best thing any of us can do for our lives and our society.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because simply nothing makes me happier and more at peace. When I'm going through hard times, I can find solace in praying for peace and going to church and serving others. Being a member of this gospel inspires me and expands my perspective. It gives me hope and motivation. It teaches me about eternity and reminds me that we are all a part of something so much bigger than just ourselves. It has taught me that I am a daughter of God with divine nature and a divine calling. I matter, and I can make a difference in other people's lives. This life is a time for me to grow in maturity and in understanding, and knowing that makes it immensely easier for me to choose the right.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through both institutional and non-institutional ways. I've heard that there is a difference between the church (going to meetings, fulfilling responsibilities, etc.) and the gospel (following the example of Christ, listening to the Spirit to guide me, etc.), so I try to always keep the spirit of the gospel with me while I also fulfill my responsibilities in the church. I also live my faith by being the best person I can be in daily life. I try to always do what Christ would do, serve others, keep the commandments, be honest, and stand up for my beliefs.
