Hi I'm Alan Silva

I am from Colombia, I work with a non profit helping families become self sufficient. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a regular guy. I have an incredible wife and 5 kids. I work with the Institute for Self Reliant Agriculture, a non profit that focuses on helping families in rural parts of the world to become self sufficient by growing the food they eat. I have met the most amazing, most humble people in the world. It is a privilege for me to be able to devote my time and energy to helping make the world a better place. I enjoy reading and playing with my kids. I also own a video production company and make commercials, infomercials and such. We just moved to Florida and I love the people and wildlife found here.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always wondered questions like "Where did I come from? Why am I here on this earth? and What happens after I die?" This church is the only place that has ALL the answers. This church has living prophets toady, like Moses and Abraham of old. Our ministers are not paid, but only serve because of love and desire. I love that. I love that the church teaches that families can be together forever. I never liked the whole 'till death do you part' thing. If I was going to get married, I did not want it to end at death. I learned in this church that it does not have to. I love my savior and what he sacrificed for me and because of this church, I understand his sacrifice a lot better. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Living my faith to me means being a disciple of Jesus Christ. It means being a good neighbor, serving my community, looking out for those in need and trying to live my life as Christ lived his. I volunteer to serve in community programs wherever I can. I like to know my neighbors and seeing how I can serve them.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Alan Silva
I have made a lot of mistakes in my life. Some small, some big. The wonderful thing about the atonement is that it opens the door for me to return back to the presence of my Heavenly Father no matter how many mistakes I have made. He does not care where I have been, he only cares where I am going now. As long I rely on Jesus Christ, he can do for me what I can't do for myself. Show more Show less
