Hi I'm Rachael

I exercise for a living. I love to dance. I have 2 cats and an awesome husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work for Les Mills, a fitness company that puts out exercise classes. I travel the country putting people through workshops to certify them as instructors for these classes. I legitimately love to workout. My favorite workout styles are lifting weights and dancing. I have a husband who is my best friend, and he is a cyclist and a runner. We spend a lot of time making desserts (workout to eat, right?) and laughing at our 2 cats. I am a self proclaimed cat lady. I also love to sew in my spare time. It's challenging but so fulfilling when I finish a project and it doesn't look excessively wonky. I am a proud science nerd, and my goal in life is to someday understand, and I mean UNDERSTAND, quantum physics.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that God answers my prayers. I have a solid personal relationship with my Father in Heaven that has been strengthened through my Mormon upbringing. This church has taught me that I have worth, that women have worth equal to men, that every person on this planet is important and special to God. I know my Savior, Jesus Christ, and have felt the power of His atonement change me, the very essence of who I am, for the better. I have conquered trials and personal demons with Him on my side. Nothing can cheapen that or take it away. No matter what, I know of the times when I have felt the Spirit of the Lord in my life, comforting me, strengthening me, and giving me companionship I need to push forward. I am happy, every day of my life, regardless of life's ups and downs, and that is because of my faith in God and Jesus Christ and their gospel. I know it is true. I have felt it. I have studied it. The truth of it burns in my soul every day of my life, and I cannot deny it. If you open your heart to this gospel, it will change you in ways you could never have imagined. You will be happier than you could have ever imagined. I know this because that is exactly what it has done for me.

How I live my faith

I teach one Sunday a month in my ward's Relief Society, a society organized specifically for the women of the church. I love that we have a community just for women. I am a proud modern Mormon feminist and think it is incredible that we can get together as women and talk about ways to strengthen ourselves and those around us. I also do Visiting Teaching once a month, which is our church's program for women to visit with each other in our homes and discuss the gospel. It is empowering to spend time with fellow women that share my beliefs. My husband and I also study and pray at home together, taking time to talk about our beliefs. I take time on my own to study my faith, reading scriptures and other good gospel books to further my knowledge and strengthen my testimony. I try my best to live every day in a way that would make my Savior proud of me. I know I fall short, and I have plenty to work on, but I am doing my best, and I know that is good enough for Him.

What is the Relief Society?

Rachael
Relief Society is our church's organization for women. We meet once a week, usually during the third and final hour of our church services. During this meeting we discuss needs of women and family in our ward, plan social activities, and have a gospel centered lesson where we can learn from each other and strengthen our faith. We do lots of service together outside of our regular church meetings as well. As a young, progressive woman, I love that we have a community of women that supports and strengthens each other.
