Hi I'm Mandi!

I sometimes struggle to figure out what my future holds, but I know who I am. I'm a child of God, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in Kansas with my parents and little brother and always wanted to try living in the city. I'm big on music of literally every single kind. I've been working full or part-time jobs since I was 12 years old and try hard to pay my way through school by myself. I'm a recovering cosplaying, marathon-watching, author-stalking geek. Someday, I want to travel and see the world. From May 2013 to November 2014, however, I'll be serving a mission in St. George, Utah. Go Mormons!

Why I am a Mormon

Sometimes, I feel like it's harder to grow up as a member of the Church and really understand the gospel than it is for someone who's learning about us for the first time. It's so easy to only see what we do on a superficial level and not feel it as deeply as we should. People can believe that just by being an active member of our church they're doing everything that they're supposed to: but until we really get to know Christ and ask Him what MORE we can do, we can't reach our potential. I'm grateful for my mission because it's really opened my eyes to the meaning underneath everything I believe. I know that Christ lives. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that this church isn't "the Mormon church," it's the original Church that Christ established when He was on Earth. This claim rests on my knowledge that God speaks to men today just as He has since the world began.

How I live my faith

Something incredible that I've noticed about faith is it's ability to keep growing and build upon itself. It doesn't matter where or when you start; your faith can grow exponentially! So, really, I live my faith by trying again to be better even when it's hard. It's not easy to do the right thing all the time, and, sometimes, we mess up. But if we learn from the experience, it's not a waste. Our best effort in life is enough, and it's never too late.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Various prophets in the ancient Americas wrote down a combination of their people's spiritual and secular history. Centuries later, a prophet named Mormon compiled the records into the book now known as the Book of Mormon. I know it's truly another testament of Jesus Christ and as priceless as the Bible. Don't take my word for it, though...find out for yourself! If you read it intently and ask Heavenly Father through prayer if it's true, you can feel it yourself just as much as I do. How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Talk about it with kids!!! We're so scared to mention it sometimes because we aren't sure what to say, but if we don't teach the children in our lives, someone else will. We don't live in a world anymore where kids are naive, and they're learning about these things in the wrong places at earlier and earlier ages. You want them to go to you for the answers to big questions, even if you feel awkward about it at first. If they've never heard that pornography is wrong, they'll grow up thinking it's normal. If they don't hear WHY it's wrong, they still won't understand. We can't leave it up to them to figure it out on their own. Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

God loves us and wants us to know the truth and be as happy as possible. As people seek the truth, they find His church. Show more Show less
