Hi I'm Debbie

I live in Oklahoma with my family. I own a yoga studio and teach group fitness classes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married with two teenage children. I run marathons and compete in triathlons - I love physical fitness and being active. Seven years ago I became a vegan and hope to someday go back to school to become a registered dietician.

Why I am a Mormon

My family and I are converts to the church. We became members of the church in 2004 after being involved in church of other faiths throughout our lives. My past church experiences taught me a lot about my Saviour, the scriptures, etc., but I always felt something was missing. For example, I had a hard time accepting that once I died, my husband wouldn't be 'my husband' in heaven as I had been taught. I thought, "what kind of loving God would allow us to spend our lives with someone only to have us separated in heaven?" Once I went through the discussions relating to the temple, I felt such a strong affirmation that it was true. My husband and I could be together forever. Another important to issue to me was church finances. I came from a church that violated the trusts of the congregation by way of financial mismanagement. Once I learned that our bishops and church workers are unpaid and the church gives a full financial accounting to the membership I felt such a sense of peace. This is the way it should be - full honesty and integrity.

How I live my faith

Being involved in my community and ward are very important to me. I am very involved in raising awareness and funds for the local food bank. In addition, I help teach and organize events in the women's organization at our ward. I try to live the gospel by being a good person - not being judgmental and loving people the way Jesus loves us.
