Hi I'm Lee

I love learning about ancestors. Their joys, sorrows and challenges and how they overcame them. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of a blended family of many children. Most are grown now, but we are able to gather and find joy in family! Raising teenagers is hard work! Sometimes it is easy to get discouraged, but it is such a joy to watch them grow up to become their best selves. Especially when they reach out to lift others. I love music. I like to be in community theater and sing in my church choir. I find much joy in learning about my ancestors. Some of them had such hard lives and overcame many hardships in life. Their example gives me hope that I can act as they did and be strong to do my part of living a good life. I am thankful for their lives and the good they did which blessed my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Many of my ancestors found the gospel of Jesus Christ and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Most of my ancestors came west as part of the migration to Utah in the 1840's and 1850's when life in Utah was very hard. They had very little. Yet, today, I have been blessed with a great legacy of faith from their example. For many years I relied on the faith of their example. I felt they knew it was important in their lives. That following a prophet into the wilderness was a commitment to follow Christ. My faith grew to be a personal experience with a kind, loving, forgiving Heavenly Father and His son, the Lord Jesus Christ. I learned I can pray to them and they will hear me. As I had hard times in life, Christ was right there with me. He would reach out and touch my heart when it ached from sadness and loneliness. He carried me when I knew that I could not go one more step. He would carry my heavy burden when I turned to Him and agreed to take His yoke upon me. I learned to feel peace in the midst of great turmoil and pain. I have learned to reach out to others who have similar pain. To share their sadness. To feel their sorrow. To point to the Savior for assistance. I feel great joy as we share in the Savior's love and blessings together. My faith today is in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and the joy I gain by taking upon me the name of Jesus Christ and doing His will. Especially when I serve others and do it out of the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Then I feel great warmth in my heart and joy in my soul! The love of God! I feel it is so important for each of us to gain our own personal connection with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. So we can know how to best live our lives, raise our families and prepare to meet them some day.

How I live my faith

In my current church assignment I get the wonderful experience of assisting others learn about their ancestors and how their families are connected. Some call this genealogy, others call it family history. I prefer to call it connecting to family of mankind. We are all connected in someway. There is information on the internet and in archives that shows the clues for how we are connected. Most people just need the help to use the tools and find the clues and put them together. When they connect them, how great is their excitement and joy! They find their ancestors and it feels so good to be a part of that find!
