Hi I'm Bethany Cole Saldaña

I'm a Marylander. I'm a singer. I'm a redhead. I'm a wife, a mother-to-be and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised on Maryland's Eastern Shore. In fact, my family has been there since 1601! A fun fact is that both my parents were born in the same hospital on the Eastern Shore 10 years apart. I've been Mormon all my life. My parents taught me at an early age to love the Lord and trust in him and I'll see miracles in my life. It's true! Because of my faith in Jesus Christ, I have been able to accomplish many things that I didn't think were possible. I earned a Master's Degree, I won voice competitions, and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina. I'm now fluent in Spanish. I am passionate about the Hispanic cultures. I even married a Peruvian! My husband and I enjoying laughing at each other, dancing, and serving others together.

Why I am a Mormon

The most basic answer to this question is I'm a Mormon because my parent are Mormon. I enjoyed growing up Mormon because we would always go to tons of fun activities with other families from church. Also, during church on Sundays, there were always fun activities for the children and youth. When I was 14, I decided that it was time to find out for myself if being Mormon is what the Lord wanted for me. I went to my bedroom, read some scriptures, then got on my knees and prayed to Heavenly Father to find out if what I had been learning all my life was true. I felt a calm come over me that YES, it was true and that it was the right thing to do. I continued living my life as a devout Mormon. I even went to Brigham Young University (the Mormon University). Being Mormon and living the teachings of Jesus Christ (the best I can) is fun and it bring a lot of peace and joy in my life. My husband and I had the opportunity, through our faithfulness to be sealed for time and all eternity in one of the Lord's Holy Temples. I can't describe the joy that thought brings me! I know that my marriage is not just until "death do we part", but our love will be perpetuated beyond the grave. I love my husband and family so much that I can't imagine having to lose them when this life is over. I'm grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who has made it possible for us to be united even after death. This is why I am Mormon. This is why I strive everyday to be a little better than I was yesterday:)

How I live my faith

I love people! I love being around people! It's even better when I have the opportunity to serve others. One of the greatest satisfactions in life, in my opinion, is to witness someone accomplish great things. It's even better when you get to be part of that great accomplishment. I work with the youth of the Church (girls 12-18). The adolescent years can be difficult and trying (I count my blessings every day that I don't ever have to relive those days :)). There is a program for these girls called, Personal Progress. This program engages the girls in activities and projects that help them develop 8 values: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue. When the girls complete their personal progress, they will be better prepared to be forces for good in this world. They will be better daughters, friends, and future mothers. It is such a pleasure to watch shy, girls at age 12 join our group and put in practice the principles of Personal Progress and mature into faithful young adults, who have a strong sense of who they are (children of God) and what their purpose is here on this Earth (to help others come unto Christ). I love the youth!
