Hi I'm Tarryn

I thrive on adventure, smartphones and mountains amaze me, I love chocolate and I speak Portuguese, I love Brasil and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am just your almost average college student. My family moves around a lot so I was born in Washington, I graduated high school in Pennsylvania, I go to college in Utah, and my family currently lives in South Carolina. I have recently returned from an 18 month mission trip to Brasil, and while there I absolutely fell in love with the Brazilian culture and the amazing language of Portuguese. I am now living at home catching up with my awesome family and I will soon be returning to my beloved BYU. I can't quite decide on a major yet, but good thing I have a few months. I go back and forth between PHYSICAL THERAPY or ASL OR PORTUGUESE INTERPRETER or PHYSICAL EDUCATION or something to do with kids or the health field. Well, one thing that's certain...it doesn't really matter what happens to me: God's got it all figured out.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because some wonderful missionaries taught my dad the truth and he accepted it. I am a Mormon, because I've felt my Savior's love in my life. I believe that the atonement of Christ is a wonderful gift He has given to us, and I know that eternal life awaits us when we follow God's commandments. I know that there is no greater joy than that which can be found through God's plan.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by the way I act. I follow the counsel of my church leaders to the best of my ability and I try to help others find the light of Christ. I spent a year and a half on the other side of the world, in Brasil, being a full-time missionary (or official representative of Jesus Christ). I spent these 18 months helping people understand the importance of having God in our lives and doing our very best every day to return to live with Him. I am now at home living life one day at a time and trying to remember that God's got my back.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Tarryn
The Word of Wisdom was given to us by God, in the 1800's, and is still relevant today. The Word of Wisdom was given to us to help us become the best and most healthy person we can be. It is a guide in what is good to eat and what is unhealthy to eat. It also talks to us about spiritual health and how we can improve that. It talks about what is absolutely not good for us such as tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and illegal drugs. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Tarryn
Baptism is essential for us to be able to return to live with God in heaven. However, many people have passed on without being able to receive baptism. Because of this, we do proxy baptisms to give those people the opportunity to live with God in heaven. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Tarryn
Mormons believe that family is an essential part of Gods plan of happiness for us. Families are ordained of God and are all set up differently. Some families have a mom and a dad; some include extended family; some just a mom; and some just a dad. Families are here on Earth to help us learn and develop and to be able to work towards eternal life. Show more Show less
