Hi I'm Haylee

I'm a painter, I'm an optimist, I'm a nature lover, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to express myself through painting, singing, photography, (horribly executed) interpretive dance, and writing. I love to be outside where I can appreciate all the beauty that God has created. Outside is where I feel most like myself, whether I'm hiking, camping, or fishing. My dream is to be an elementary school teacher, where I can share my talents with kids and help them discover the person that they want to be. I am passionate about teaching and learning. I hope to teach others' children as well as my own someday.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ fills me with light on even the cloudiest, darkest of days. My knowledge of the truthfulness of this church and this gospel brings me more happiness than anything else on the earth. The knowledge I have that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me and have a plan for me is what keeps me going in this troubled world we live in. I feel peace, love, and acceptance when I could be feeling despair, hate, and loneliness. I am happy because no matter what happens I know who I am, why I'm here and where I'm going.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others and striving to be the best daughter, sister, aunt, employee, student and disciple of Christ that I can be. I do my best so I can help others feel the Saviors love. I do this by living the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ and by obeying the commandments. I live righteously by praying, studying the scriptures, and having a Christ like attitude toward others. I live my faith by having a cheerful, positive attitude and by finding the extraordinary in my seemingly ordinary life. I also have the unique opportunity to teach children 18 months - 3 years old in my ward. I live my faith by being an example to them and teaching them how to have Christ like love for one another. In return, they also teach me.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a law from God that helps us take care of our mind and body. Our bodies are gifts from God that should be treated as such. We are asked to avoid alcohol, tobacco, coffee, tea, and illegal drugs because they can have harmful effects. By taking care of our bodies we are showing Heavenly Father how grateful we are to have them and He promises us great blessings for obeying the Word of Wisdom. Just like if you were given a shiny new Camaro, you wouldn't go driving around in the mud with the windows rolled down. Hopefully you would keep it clean and treat it nicely! It's basically a commitment to live healthier so we can be strong and smart. Show more Show less
