Hi I'm Madi Markle

I like to ramble and hula-hoop--just not at the same time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a book-loving, day-dreaming English major at BYU, but I used to be a scripture-toting, door-knocking sister missionary. I was adopted by the South, and I will forever and a day be grateful for the experiences I had while serving the Lord there. My family and friends mean everything to me, but I tend to hide this behind a thick wall of sassiness. I relish the simple things in life; frozen taquitos, a good joke, and finding every excuse to wear rain boots. I love my religion, because its simplicity turns this world of nonsense into sense, and allows us to access all the blessings and light brought forth by our Savior Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon for many reasons, here's two. The first reason is because I have a rich history of faith and sacrifice that lead many of my ancestors not only to the truth, but also to the plains of Utah. I'm the descendant of Mormon pioneers, and their legacy is the trail of faith they blazed for me. I will always be grateful for them. The second reason is because I know it's all true. Despite being a Mormon all my life, I did not have a guaranteed witness of the truth. I had to get down on my knees and pray to know, and I continue to pray to know, so that I can strengthen my testimony. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I know that God loves His children too much to keep the fullness of His gospel from the Earth for too long. I know that this church contains that fullness. I'm Mormon, because what I've learned through this religion has empowered my life, and brought me deep, lasting happiness. Through the scriptures, prayer, and the guidance of a modern day prophet, I can live my life in line with what God wants for me, and receive inspiration for my daily life. I have come to know my Savior through studying the Book of Mormon, and the Bible. I love him, and all he did (and continues to do) for me. This religion has helped me to understand the plan that God has for each of us, and has motivated me to live a better life. I know that my family can be together forever, and that knowledge keeps me going.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to align myself with Christ. While I frequently make mistakes, I know that through the enabling power of Christ's Atonement, I can repent of things I've done wrong, and overcome weaknesses that hold me back. Whenever I get overwhelmed by these shortcomings I try to remind myself that we all fall short of the glory of God, but together with Christ and his perfection we are all good enough. No ifs ands or buts about it, we are all good enough. Faith without works is dead, thus my actions should be in line with my beliefs; I try to live in accordance with these beliefs by keeping God's commandments, continually trying to grow my faith, and by serving those around me. While knowing what is right is hard at times, I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers, and that when I pray and read the scriptures life is about 10000000000 times easier and brighter.
