Hi I'm Mark

I grew up in a small town in Alaska. I am a husband, a Mechanical Engineer and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from college and started work as a Mechanical Engineer. While growing up in Alaska my father taught me from an early age to work hard since there was always plenty of snow to shovel each winter. That work ethic helped me as I struggled through many difficult semesters of school. I love playing basketball and do so whenever given the opportunity. I love to fish, hunt, camp, hike, golf, and play just about any sport. I enjoy hanging out with friends, talking about nerdy ways to be more efficient and use less energy around the home. But in the end the thing I enjoy most is spending time with my family. That is where I have found most joy in this life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is true. Just like Joseph Smith, I wanted to know for myself which church was Christ's true church here on the earth. I have read The Book of Mormon and have prayed about its message and Heavenly Father has let me know it is true through the power of Holy Ghost. What I feel as I live the gospel is what lets me know that what I am doing is what Heavenly Father wants me to do. I can not describe the joy and peace it brings to my life each and everyday. Through the restoration of the gospel in these latter days families can be sealed together for time and for all eternity. Imagine that! We can spend forever with our families if we obey the commandments and strive each day to do our best. I invite those that are reading this and are curious about if Christ's church is on the earth again in our day, and if families can be together, to ask God for yourself. I know that He will answer your prayer just as he answered mine and millions others. This is the greatest and most important message in the world today, that Christ is our Savior and that He is leading and guiding His church through a prophet and apostles just like when He was on the earth. Can you imagine a time in earths history when we are in more need of prophet? It just makes so much sense to me that the Church needed to be restored since it was lost. BUT, even though it makes sense, I am a Mormon not because of the logical sense that it makes, but because my prayer has been answered by God. I love Christ, my Savior, and his kingdom here on the earth. The Gospel of Christ and the restoration of His kingdom in these later days will bring you more joy than you can possibly imagine! But don't take my word for it. Find out for yourself! God be with you!

How I live my faith

I love to serve people around me. When I serve others I am happy as I learn to focus on the needs of others and to look outside myself. Currently I serve as a ward missionary where I live. This is different from full-time missionaries that you see with name tags and often bicycles. I assist the full time missionaries in teaching and fellowshipping those that want to hear about Christ and the Restoration of His church. I know that Christ is our Savior and I feel that is true each time I testify of Him.
